HP.com , or more accurately HPE.com has all your server , spec., manuals and all you need.
    current.

    quick spec. link

DL760 G2 (2006 year very old server, and has 4 or more processors too.
Four or Eight Intel Xeon Processors MP with fault tolerant processor power modules
    https://h20195.www2.hpe.com/v2/Getdocume...

if confused, join the free HPE.com forum and ask for what processors the most current BIOS supports
they know ask them, it is a Xeon CPU.

HP retired this server is year 2015. Nov,. 1st,

2002 server (relic) 4 or 8MP CPUs possible and up to 8 banks of ECC ram, 1 per CPU. not told by you, goals.
    ask at hpe.com
not told now do you have 1 or 8 CPU now, we can not guess the servers LOAD OUT.
the answer is RTM read the manual it answers this.

the manual is clear, Read it? BELOW IS QUOTE IN YOUR MANUAL NOT READ YET.
ONLY "MP" work, just those class of CPU. way bad then, 2002.

Proliant DL760 G2 Intel Xeon Processor Kits
Folder-Closed 287519-B21 HP Compaq Intel Xeon MP 1.50GHz 1MB Processor Option Kit (4 Processor Kit)
Folder-Closed 287520-B21 HP Compaq Intel Xeon MP 2.0GHz 2MB Processor Option Kit (4 Processor Kit)
Folder-Closed 334036-B21 HP Compaq Intel Xeon MP 2.0GHz 1MB Processor Option Kit (4 Processor Kit)
Folder-Closed 339072-B21 HP Compaq Intel Xeon MP 2.5GHz 1MB Processor Option Kit (4 Processor Kit)
Folder-Closed 334037-B21 HP Compaq Intel Xeon MP 2.80GHz 2MB Processor Option Kit (4 Processor Kit)
Folder-Closed 351052-B21 HP Compaq Intel Xeon MP 2.20GHz 2MB Processor Option Kit (4 Processor Kit)
Folder-Closed 351051-B21 HP Compaq Intel Xeon MP 2.70GHz 2MB Processor Option Kit (4 Processor Kit)
Folder-Closed 351050-B21 HP Compaq Intel Xeon MP 3.00GHz 4MB Processor Option Kit (4 Processor Kit)
processors cannot be mixed in the same server. They all have to be of the same speed.
same p/n and same Stepping codes intels.

(STEP OR STEPPING OR SL CODES) "versions in ENGLISH"
If you are going to use the CPU in a dual+-cpu SERVER application or machine then YOU MUST match the SL code for the new CPU with your existing CPU .
SL codes - All INTEL cpu's are also designated by a Step code or SLcode.
This is a 5 digit alpha-numberic code on the cpu itself.
Your particular cpu may have many SL codes (think of them as versions of cpus made).
In order to run dual cpu's or more in one machine the SL codes must match !

the CPu must also be compatible with HP unique heat sink not just pin counts and SL codes.
the manual is clear on this, and 8CPU ARE NOT SIMPLE AT ALL TO get going and OMG the 8 RAM banks, too.
why mess with this at home, (no business wold) 2002 junk.

ask HPE first or this here.
    https://www.memory4less.com/hp-3-00ghz-x...

I'd retire it, and get a DELL R710, run RAID 6 ON 8 DRIVES.

    HP 339661-001 HP PCIx Cage DL760 G2 Mfr P/N 339661-001 System Boards

that is a HPE server only it is no PC, it has support at HPE.com and the fourm there why in the world ask here in fixya, there is no server forum here at FIXYA.
the manuals on your SERVER tell s you all that if you choose to read it ?

intel made the CPU and they said this, and is correct (and can not be mixed)
    https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/...

2002 is way to old now. best is move up 10 years, yah think?

2002 servers need to be retired and my guess why you got it for $20 used, and worth less.
get dell R710, win. more better but that goes without saying sure.

same answer on any PC or SERVER> even this OLD.
pin out the same and socket number same. 603?

ask them, HPE.com (why skip asking maker this nor if it needs BIOS updates)
try newest BIOS, of HP told you to for more CPU choices (microcode updates) ASK THEM.

buy what the manual told you to use, it's there to see it, I DO

RTM , RTM again RTM. HPe.com on this 2002 relic if HPE.deleted support there (read there forum for same quesitons for 19 years)
if no support on any server learn to google

    google HP DL760 G2, manual

    G2 means super old generation 2. 2002

That motherboard uses the CPU Socket 1155 LGA. Pretty much any processor for that socket should work. (Source: http://browser.primatelabs.com/geekbench2/1112660)

Popular CPUs for this board are:

  1. Intel Core i5-3570
  2. Intel Core i7-377

JAMIE it is not PC it is A SERVER, real. and super old.
    read the title then post.

    "HP 339661-001 HP PCIx Cage DL760 G2 Mfr P/N 339661-001 System Boards"

only HP has list for that, due to the fact only their BIOS allows it, and only the newest BIOS update
allows more than the original 3 xeon in the first year published SPEC.

OP ask HPE.com for help HP enterprise web site only.
    ok
not here, HP keeps QVL ,qualified vendors list a secret, why is the 8th wonder of the world. (bad)
    QVL - CPU not told.
    QVL ,memory is not told
they do that to over charge on upgrades from them only, marketing jockers in there Prime. (greed)

you have to pry it out of them.

the way it works at HP, is you have to ask them and beg for CPU QVL lists. based on newest BIOS updates only.
that is what you, or ask on THEIR forum, (yah think?)
As with some or all PCs and servers made, there are BIOS limits on (xeons this case) limits. a fact of life

I have the hp pavilion 524w desktop computer and I was wanting to know if it is possible to insert a newer version of the processor. 1.73 ghz is not fast enough. Is there anything faster that will go with...

The compatibility isn't with the memory, it's with the motherboard and its chipset. In your case the motherboard is a FIC AM-37 which has an VIA KM266A chipset - an extremely old chipset . The only processors accepted are AMD Athlon XP of the first generation of which you already have the fastest version
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AMD_Athlon(tm)_XP_3200%2B#Athlon_XP_.22Palomino.22_.28Model_6.2C_180_nm.29
So no, it's not possible to upgrade it. You will have to buy another motherboard-processor combo.

What is the processors that can be compatible for Intel motherboard

Confirm your motherboard's compatibility with the Intel CPU you want to install. Motherboards typically only support one type of CPU slot, so purchase an Intel processor that is compatible with that slot.
Ensuring your processor and motherboard are compatible is vital when choosing parts to build your own computer system. If they are both the same socket type, they will most likely work together.
Brands
There are a plethora of motherboard manufacturers, but only two main processor manufacturers: AMD and Intel.
Every motherboard, regardless of manufacturer, has a socket that will accept a processor.
Intel
Common Intel socket types include LGA775, LGA1156 and LGA1366. Older models include PGA370, PGA423 and Socket 479.
Your motherboard and processor will be generally compatible if their socket types match. ...

For RAM info, go to www.crucial.com and run the system scanner. For the MB you will need the mfg model number to research it on their website. Compatible processors are subject to the slot type that the MB accepts.

Unsure of processor compatibility with laptop motherboard

You did an awful lot of work to write this question. If you will go back to the HP site, you can find full specifications for your computer and what upgrade paths are available, straight from the horses mouth, so to say. If a upgrade path is listed or indicated, you can follow it. If there is no path, you can't follow it. Simple.

While there may be some processor upgradability, my advice is keep it stock. You have the stock parts - they are suppose to work together. The best and cheapest upgrade I will recommend is put in as much memory as your computer will take and you can afford. If you start changing stuff, you will have heat issues (which may be how you got to this place to start with.)

Hp compaq d350 sff processors compatibility

Your best bet is to work from the existing processor model number, since manufacturers can change the motherboard in a given model of computer from one range of serial numbers to the next. They sometimes also offer the same model of computer with different processors and motherboards at different prices. So you can not tell much from the model number of the computer.

May I also advise you that changing a processor requires a little special procedures, equipment, and knowledge these days. It is not just unplug one and plug in the other any more. If you do not know what you are doing you could easily "fry" the new processor from excessive heat, due to incorrect installation. So look for some help if you are not sure of the details for replacing a processor chip. It's not hard, just that some things that may not be obvious are critical.

Processor upgrade

Your CPU is tied into your motherboard. Only CPUs that are compatible with your motherboard will work. You can get your motherboard model from start>programs>system tools>system information. Once you have the model # then you can start searching for the CPU options. Good Luck.
