SOURCE: scan letter

Most scanners in my experience do not scan to "precisely" 8 1/2 X 11 inch letter size (assuming that was the original paper size).

A workaround is possible with some graphic programs. After importing the original incorrect scan of the document into the software a combination of resizing and/or cropping (depending on how your program works) will allow getting the exact dimensions. Then save as a new image document. Make sure to adjust for sufficient resolution (a larger document) if you plan to reprint.

SOURCE: trying to scan legal sized

Try to look at preview first and then see the options you have. I cannot see your screen but you have options in the scanner. Play with them. Experiment and that is how you become an "ace". Better to make mistakes and learn than have some one else tell you how with computers and printers.

SOURCE: I have a HP Photosmart

You can use the 'HP Photo and Imaging Gallery' in adjusting the image instead the built in application from Windows or OS X.

The application mentioned above is found in the HP Director under your list of programs. Select your scanner should you be asked for the device.

Once you have scanned an object it should be previewed on the 'HP Photo and Imaging Gallery'. You should be able to re-size your image using the buttons.

How do you scan?

How to place the document
Allow 3/8 inches (1 cm) or more space between the edges of the platen glass and the document.
Align a corner of the document with the corner at the arrow of the platen.

Hello Steve !
The only way scanning Legal documents on this HP LJ 3030 willbe using the ADF ( Automatic Document Feeder) since the size of the flatbed its only for letter.

So, after placing the document on the automatic document feeder theres a few setting you will need to change on the printer.

Number 1 : Go to Main Menu on the printer and look for System Setup, under system set up look for Paper setup, hit ok and now look for "Def. Paper Size" and set it to "Legal"

Number 2 : you should have a button on the printer control panel (Physical printer) that says " Reduce / Enlarge" , hit it and make sure the one selected is "original=100%"

Now just hit "Start Copy" and it print LEGAL ! it worked for me

Hope this help !

Iwant to post something more than the

You can post it as image format.

Type and print your words in any word application (example office word application).Enlarge your font, use the whole page if possible. Print the document. Scan the document and save as image file.

Now the problem is if you save the image, the file size should not exceed the required maximum size to upload by simple uploader. You can use image resizer. It can be download from the add-ons of any web browser for free. (will be found on the Tools menu of the page when click add-ons). When installed completely, right click on the image file and click resize. Use thenew image file with less file size and upload it to Facebook.

All your friends will see and read the words completely.

Let me know if you lost in the procedure so I can help you on your way to solve your problem.

Please rate. Thank you for using Fixya.

We have a canon MP610 printer scanner combo, I work in a dentist office and am trying to scan a x-ray. When I do it is'nt picking up the detail very well at all. I think I need to adjust the settings but I...

the only way to get a little more detail out of this printer with x-rays is to INCREASE the DPI resolution. there are no other adjustments that are abailable.
The Scan Settings dialog box opens when you click Specify... on the Scan/Import Documents or images screen.
The Scan Settings dialog box allows you to specify advanced settings for scanning.

Document Type
Select the type of document to be scanned. To scan photographs, select either Color Photo or Black and White Photo. To scan text documents, select either Color Document, Black and White Document, or Text(OCR). To scan magazines, select Magazine(Color).
Document Size
Select the size of document to be scanned.
Auto Detect: Detects document size automatically.
Auto Detect(Multiple Documents): Select this when scanning multiple documents at one time.
Select Stitch-assist to scan the left and right halves of a document separately and combine them back into one image.
Reference See the section below for details.
Scanning images Larger than the Platen (Stitch Assist)
When you select Custom, a dialog box in which you can specify the document size opens. Select a Unit, then enter the Width and Height and click OK.

Important When you select Auto Detect the position or size of the image may not be scanned correctly depending on the document. In such a case, specify the document size, such as A4 or Letter according to the document to be scanned, and align a corner of the document with the corner at the arrow of the platen.
When you select Auto Detect(Multiple Documents) allow 3/8 inches (1 cm) or more space between the edges of the platen and the document.
If not, some images may not be scanned at the correct positions and sizes.
You cannot select Auto Detect(Multiple Documents) or Auto Detect when Document Type is Text(OCR).
Scanning Resolution<<<<-------------------------------------------------------------<<<<<<<<<<
Select the resolution at which to scan documents. The following scanning resolution can be specified:
Text(OCR): 300dpi, 400dpi
Others: 75dpi, 100dpi, 150dpi, 200dpi, 300dpi, 400dpi, 600dpi
The higher the resolution (value), the more detail in your image; the lower the resolution (value), the less detail. At high resolution, scanning takes longer and file size becomes larger than usual. See the section below for details on resolution.
