Why does the tx light flash on my ftdx5000?

When I turn the unit on, the receiver works fine but I cannot transmit. The TX light is flashing and the antenna tuner does not function.

I experienced this situation this morning after 3+ years of perfect use. Followed Brad Brown's instructions and corrected the issue. I might add that you should wait 15-30 minutes for power to drain off. Thanks!

There are several things that can cause this.

1. Powered on with the mike keyed

2. Accessories plugged in the back

3. Power interrupted

To fix this leave the power on, UNPLUG the unit and wait for it to power drain. Turn the unit off plug it back in. If that does not take care of it, take the microphone off and any accessories and try again.

Testimonial: "Very fast response... thanks! No joy, unfortunately. Yaesu tech support suggested the same thing and said they believed there was an accessory problem inasmuch as the flashing TX light indicates the transmitter is inhibited. Thanks again for the time. Off to Yaesu, I guess."

What does it mean when the red light flashes on the radio and I get no response

On most models this would indicate activity on your frequency. The fact your radio is not receiving (Rx) could be because the transmitting (Tx) radio is just beyond your range; your radio has a different PL code than the Tx radio, or your radio has a problem.

Changed battery and still does not work - hear pinging in computer

There are buttons on the transmitter/receiver and the mouse(small red on bottom). Turn off the mouse. Plug in the USB Tx/Rx and hold down the button. Then press the red button on the mouse and hold for one second. Do this until the rapidly flashing light on the Tx/Rx slows down. The unit's frequencies are then encoded/decode and can communicate.
