Not cooling Does the outside air temp matter when it comes to cooling? It's about 65 degrees right now and I'm trying to figure out if my ac works in my camper. Ive got a digital thermometer and it's reading about 63 to 65 at the out vent.

if you have it set at 60 F and it is working at 65 to 68 F then that would be about right
as the air is cooled the cold air falls to the floor and out under the door, open window or anywhere else it can escape
the unit has to be at 80% room height so if it is set in a window then when the cold air gets up to the thermostat or ac level in the window then it will stop cooling
So if the ac unit is say 4ft from the floor and the ceiling height is 8 ft then the ac will only cool the bottom 4 ft
cold air does not rise but falls down
if you are using a ceiling fan then the cold air is stirred up and the 65F sounds about right
remember that the setting temp ( what you set it at) is the lowest temp that it will go down to before it stops cooling and if that is not reached it will keep working to attain that temp and if the room is too big, air leaks under door . around the fit in the window , no insulated walls , hot exterior wall,etc then maybe 65 F is the best you will get

If the cooling system is functional, yes.
The ac condenser adds heat to the air coming thru the radiator when the ac is on. If the engine cooling system is weak, the extra heat will make the engine run hot.
Low coolant flow thru the radiator is a common cause.

AC units, no matter if they are big/small, window or big central units. They will only cool the air in the room, or home, to about 15 degrees cooler than the outside air temperature. If you live in Georgia and it is 100?F+ outside, you will be lucky if the unit will reach 80?F even running all day.

This appears to be a low charge. you should see a 15-20 degree split between the discharge venting and the return air venting.

As to your question 'will 75 cool the house?' The answer is 'yes' - if the outside temperature is low enough. Typically speaking you can expect your central AC to cool a properly insulated house to a down to a temperature of about 20-25 degrees lower than the outside temperature. For example - if the outside temp is 95 degrees. You could expect to get your house down to 70-75 degrees. If the outside temp is 110 degrees then you could only expect to get the house to 85 or 90 degrees.

So .. as you can see - your 'inside' temp will be directly affected by the 'outside' temperature.

As to the operation of central air; it is very simple.

I would suggest that you not pay 'too much attention' to what you have the thermostat set on. A comfortable temperature - is a personal thing - so - I would set it somewhere - say 72 and see how I (and others in the house) was handling that setting.

If you want it 'cooler' just 'notch' it down a degree or two - if you need it a little warmer - turn it up a degree or two. Do this "fine adjusting" till you have the temperature setting you are comfortable with.

Usually the more you can leave your thermostat alone the better off you will be from a comfort position and an electrical useage standpoint. Obviously, the higher you have your thermostat set the 'less' it will cost you on your electric bill.

How high you set the temperature is a balance you have to come to based on how comfortable you want to be - matched with how much you want to hold down the electric bill.

Try using a garden hose to wash down the condensor coil (the coil that is exposed to the outside air).
During the cooler times when it seems to be working, check the temperature difference of the air coming out against the temperature of the air coming in (room temperature air). The temperature should be approximately 16 to 22degF difference. If you are not getting at least 16degF air, you most likely need to have your unit serviced to see if professionial cleaning or a recharge is needed. If you are getting the temperature difference but not getting the amount of cooling you need during hot weather, it could be a capacity problem. Sounds like you have dirty condenser coils. Remove the upper shroud and check the condenser for clean. Take a water hose and gently spray out the coils paying special attention not to bend the coils over with too much pressure. This will allow more air movement through the coils and give you better cooling efficiency.

make sure the system switch is in the cool position, then press run program button and allow a couple of minutes for system to cycle on, if it doesn't come on press the button for lowering the set point, set it to 72 degrees and then press the hold temperature key.

Check your filters, make sure they are not dirty. Make sure your outdoor sensor is working properly. If it is then check the setting on the defrost timer. If you don't know how, you'll have to call an expert to come fix it. Diagnostic fees generally are around 65 to 125 depending on time and contractor.
