Try powering off the machine using the main power switch for at least 10 seconds, then power back after holding down the top solo and start/stop simultaneously.
You may need to check the drainage pipe and water inlet for blockages. Under the filter inside, you can remove part of the drainage system by removing the silver clip and pulling on the plastic segment.
Wash this through, it has a lovely ball bearing inside, but don spend too long wondering how big it is. Big it is.
Check the tubes, for kinks etc... Always disconnect the water supply before detaching the inlet, and be prepared for a mess, if you do decide to remove the drainage outlet pipe.

Reset the Control Panel
A power surge or outage may cause the "Clean" light to flash continuously after power is restored. Pressing the buttons on the panel in order and within 5 seconds resets the control panel and turns off the flashing light. The buttons must be pressed in the following order: "Heated Dry," "Normal Wash," "Heated Dry" and "Normal Wash." After pressing the buttons, your Kenmore dishwasher will begin a short, 12 minute test cycle and reset the control panel.
Door Switch
A broken door switch can keep a Kenmore dishwasher from operating correctly, resulting in a flashing "Clean" light. Testing the door switch requires removing the door panel to access the control panel holding the switch in place. A continuity tester can determine if the switch has failed once you remove it from the door. Replace the switch if it fails to pass the continuity test. Make sure to disconnect the electricity to the dishwasher before accessing the switch.

Ok, Turn breaker off at breaker panel. Just off then on. The rinse only light should be on.....not flashing. Now press the start button first and hold; then press the cancel button. That should cancel all lights. Then press wash button then start. If the light is still flashing after you turn off breaker....you might have a bigger problem. May need new control panel.
Most likely the door switch is not making proper contact when you shut the door or the Start button is faulty. Needs someone to look in the door panel to fix.
Hi, The door latch pulls the door tightly closed to prevent water leakage around the door. It is also designed to prevent operation while the door is open. The door latch works in concert with the door switch to ensure that the door is tightly closed and latched.The door switch is a separate part from the door latch and is found inside the cabinet. The switch is off when the door is open. Depressing the switch closes the circuit and enables dishwasher operation. Closing the door does not depress the switch all the way. Only when the door is closed and latched, does the door fully depress the switch. If the door latch is not properly aligned it may not pull the door tightly closed and the door switch will not be fully depressed. Unless the switch is fully depressed the dishwasher will not operate.It is a simple matter to determine whether the door latch is the problem. Simply open the door, close the latch and select a cycle and depress the switch. Note that if the test is successful, with the door open, the dishwasher will operate and water may spray out. Make sure to first remove all tools from inside the dishwasher. Do not reach inside the dishwasher during the test. Now, inspect the cabinet where the door makes contact with it and locate the door switch. It may have a protruding button or spike or more likely it is a hole with a piece of metal or plastic inside it. You must fully depress that switch. If the switch is recessed, then use a non-conductive object, such as a wooden pencil, to depress the switch. Thank you !!
