could be bent axle but I would lean toward a bad tire. jack rear of vehicle qnd rotate tire slowly , if bearing is bad you will feel it. hold top and bottom of tire and rock, if bearing is bad you will have play or movement. rotate tire slowly and observe where is wobble is.

wobbling from the rear end can be from worn suspension rubbers in the control arms. Normally it is from belt separation in the tyres and bulges in the side walls
I take it that it is a front wheel drive with no diff action at the rear.
another point may be that the rear brakes are grabbing ( out of round drums or warped discs) that is causing the vehicle to react as if the rear is loose.

I wouldn't drive it because the wheel could come off if the bearings go out, and they might. Have it towed to a shop and have a mechanic look at it. This condition is DANGEROUS.

I assume that the wobble is side to side and not up and down. The most benign cause of wheel wobble is a bent tire rim; but since you've tried another wheel and still get the wobble, the cause could be a bent housing, bad bearing, a number of things. In any case, if you don't get it fixed, a castastrophic failure is likely to happen. The rear axle is semi-floating; the axle and wheel are held on only by the pressed-on bearing and a small circlip. See a mechanic ASAP.

are the lug nuts tight?
If so you may want to remove the wheel to inspect more thoroughly as that is serious - you may have a possible broken lug bolt - hard to say more without more details.

Loose half shaft (depending on if front or rear?)
Bearing on the spindle could be shot if on the rear..

check wheel lug nuts to insure both rear wheels are tight. you may have a bad tire on one side or other,have someone watch car from rear when you're driving it to pinpoint the wheel thats wobbling. that will narrow the search.a warped rim may be the problem,if so install your spare and look at used parts places for another rim and tire to install.hope this helps and thank you for choosing fixya.com

It could be wheel bearings, jack the rear wheel up and grab the top and bottom, wobble it, and if it wobbles alot, then the bearing has gone, or you may just need to grease them up.
It could also be susoension bushes( rubber or nylon inserts on the bolt points ) again, jack the rear up and look at the bolts that hold the suspension on and wobble the components to check if they move too easily( you will always have a small amount of freeplay ) REMEMBER TO USE AXLE STANDS AND CHOCK THE FRONT WHEELS WHEN WORKING UNDER A CAR, EVEN WHEN ON AXLE STANDS you don't want a tonne of steel pinning you down.

i would have the shock/spring checked out as I'm sure that's whacked. and potentially the wheel bearing causing the wobble. the rim / tire may also have damage causing a wobble. the wobble could also be caused by a simple wheel balance weight having been knocked off from the accident...have the tire balanced at a shop....2nd jack up the side. swap the front wheel and put it in the rear and spin it...this will tell you if there is more structural damage to the rear suspension. being the above listed. As far as the ball joints, usually they will be fine or snap.

sounds like your rear wheel bearing has collapsed, which in summery is a very bad thing i would not get your male friend to replace this as it is a very big job witch requires specialty tool eg. 10 tone press.
also if the bearing is replaced wrong it can course feather problems at the worst i will loss the rear wheel at the best the abs may stop working.
your best bet is to have the car towed to a ford dealer our to a differential specialist the latter may be a cheaper option.
