Gears loose will not shift

    • 1Remove the bolts and nuts that secure the center console around the gear shifter with a 1/4-inch drive ratchet, a metric socket and a Phillips head screwdriver. This will expose the rubber boot. Pull back any carpet as needed to make room for the rubber boot to be pulled over the gear shifter.
    • 2 Turn the gear shifter knob counterclockwise to remove it from the top of the gear shifter. Pull the rubber boot over the gear shifter and place it on the floorboard.

    • 3 Loosen and remove the retaining bolts at the base of the gear shifter with the ratchet and a metric socket.
    • 4 Remove the gear shifter retaining ring with the pliers. Once the retaining ring is removed, you will now be able to pull the gear shifter lever straight up through the console hole. Inspect the bushing on the pivoted area at the bottom of the gear shifter lever. Remove all of the damaged bushing from the bottom of the gear shifter lever with the pliers.
    • 5 Place the new bushing over the pivotal ball end of the gear shifter lever. Hold the gear lever with one hand and twist the bushing onto the ball end with your other hand until the bushing locks in place.
    • 6 Reverse the same steps as outlined above to reinstall the gear shifter assembly and the center console assembly. Make sure that all of the retaining nuts and bolts are tight.

Value of a element mongoose bike

Condition and appearance are important. If its in top condition it will be worth more than a junked out one. I usually buy this bike for about $ 25, then repair or tune it up and resell it for about $ 45. But that's my area. The same bike in Chicago will bring about 75-100 in full working order.

Need to adjust the front derailer, it won't change gears

There are two small screws which control the travel limits for derailer systems. Normally located top left of front mechanism when viewed from side. Adjust to allow travel within limits of gearing. Make sure that cable is not slack when in low gear position.

My bike got a wobbly tire basically right when i bought it

The cheapest way is to buy a new tube to see if that was the problem. Sometimes tubes can inflate bigger at one area than others. If not check to see if the rim is true, meaning that it is not bent, if so replace. It could also be the tire.

How do you get the gear sprocket off the back tire

To remove any rear freewheel or cassette you will need to purchase a Park Tool. Park Tool is the best brand when it comes to bike repair. Google Park Tool and you can look through their products. You will need a cassette/freewheel remover. There are dozens of different companies that make hubs and cassettes (gear sprocket). Take a look at yours and see what company made it. You can than find out which tool with properly fit your cassette. These tools are made to fit in a wrench making hand removal easy. Some brands will require a chain whip. The only way you will know which too you need is by find the company name on the cassette/hub. Without this tool removal is virtually impossible. If you need help narrowing down which cassette remover you need you can always let me know the company name and I will let you know the proper cassette tool to purchase.
