After sending my HP all in one L7680 printer an item to print, the display goes to 'Printing' with the mimic diagram showing the printer producing something, but nothing is printed out. I have run HP Scan doctor, but it states that my printer has a serious problen requiring further assistance. Any help much appreciated. Thanks.

When you go to scan and the power light flashes, that tells you your
computer IS communicating with the printer, however it may not be a
good connection. Below i described that more. If the connection is
indeed fine, and you tried a second pc or re-installed software
completely, then I would have to say the printer is dead to you. (ie. a
chip on a logic board has failed). Please continue below.
Software may be at fault. Can you print a demo page on the printer? Generally it can be done without a computer connected even, just hold any large buttons on the front of the printer for a few seconds, lights should start flashing, and a test print should print. I bet it will, because you said it "copies without a gripe."
IF that works, maybe you can completely un-install the printer software from Add/Remove Programs, or you can install it on a second computer?
IF that does not make a difference, try a new USB cable if you can. OR See if the USB port on the back of the printer appears loose. Are you able to hold it upwards or downwards or move it around at an angle? You could print another page, and quickly hold the cable in, and pushed up at an angle, or pushed IN-AND-DOWN at an angle.
IF that can be confirmed, you would need a $1 store soldering iron and would have to take the printer apart, and heat-up the connections between the USB port and the logic board. Possibly need $3 of solder from radio shack or what not. Hope I
