Some scanners are capable of digital (APCO25). The BC248 however is not. You'll have to buy newer equipment.

This usually means a software package that is capable of decoding digital.
Most bearcats are pretty good in the digital area.
It some cases it may even mean a slight modification to the scanner.
You should be aware however that scanner use in the US has quite strict legislation which in some states may prohibit the decoding of such signals so please check first.

Sorry, but there is no way to convert an analog scanner to receive and process digital transmissions. Your only alternative is to purchase a digital scanner, and current models are in the $500 range.
