Brightness issue Recently updated to Windows 8.1 and not a problem until today. I cleaned the keyboard with a cloth and the brightness went to minimum. The F12 button is not operational now. Any ideas? Thanks

Hi!
Try not to use anything wet next time, just special tissues with soft chemicals only. And keep laptop switched off while you clean it!
Do following:

  1. Get notebook to service, or next steps:
  2. Download service manual from the internet;
  3. Unscrew two keyboard bolts;
  4. Push tiny screw driver in those two holes;
  5. DO NOT DETACH keyboard immediately, just turn it slowly untill you can see wiring;
  6. check if surfaces on and under the keyboard are clear and dry;
  7. find keyboard wiring;
  8. detach it carefully;
  9. dry the laptop;
  10. check connection and put small wires back again...
Have fun if it is working.
If not - change the keyboard.

Driver for fi-6130z

Your problem is not the driver of that scanner but the system corruption of Windows 8.1 and if you don't solve this issue now, you'll be suffering this "karma" until system finally collapses.
If Windows 8.1 update went wrong, EVERYTHING is wrong. You should backup all your data and do a factory reset for Windows 8 and then update to Windows 8.1
If Windows 8 came preinstalled in your laptop you should have a recovery partition on your hard drive.
There are several tutorials how to do a system reset. Read them and follow the one you best understand.

Keyboard suddenly stops working on my gateway nv 57h notebook

Hello,

Scan your computer for outdated drivers using RadarSync. You might have an outdated keyboard driver. Once it has the results, search for the updates using Google based on the name which will show up in RadarSync. Or, you can buy the license to let it update them all.

I hope this helps!

I have an older notebook ( HP Pavilion dv1040us) and when I boot up the the screen comes on untill windows xp startes you can read that then it goes black. When I make a change to the res it wil come on...

1) There should be a keyboard shortcut for increasing the brightness of the screen. Try that.
2) Sounds like the video card driver issue, hp may have updated driver to fix that.
3) Try system restore to well known date that you know the laptop worked perfectly.
4) Go to BIOS F10 for HP, restore default/factory settings.
5) BIOS update is last thing, may resolve the video brightness issue with the laptop, see HP website according to your model number or serial number of your laptop. Make sure the laptop has battery charged to at least 50% or more and power adapter is plugged in throughout the BIOS update procedure.

Hi, Number lock and cap lock are both on, on my keyboard. They will not undo. I have tried holding cap&num lock together and it didnt work. Please help asap!

Turn on your Acer laptop and go into the BIOS. Reset it to factory defaults and press F10 to save changes and exit.

Once your laptop starts to reboot, check to see if the num lock and caps lock are still on. If they are then turn off the laptop and you'll have to take out the keyboard, clean off the ribbon to make sure there are no specs of dirt or dust on it. You can use a cloth, something soft to wipe it off.

Now got ahead and put the keyboard back on and turn on the laptop, if you the num lock and caps lock are still on then that means the keyboard is bad and would need to be replaced.

Screen Brightness

windows 8 to 10 have the brightness control in the action center or power settings or look in the charms bar if your using windows 8 or 8.1 (note: if brightness doesnt change it maybe due to the OS not knowing how to change the brightness let me know if that ends up being the case)
