My Jennair refrigerator and freezer will not cool. Model # JCD2295KE. We cleaned under the fridge (it was very dusty). Left unplugged for several days hoping it might reset itself. I can hear fans blowing. I have now read to turn the fridge off and then back on using the arrows for the temp controls. I have tried that. I read somewhere how to try to get the compressor to restart itself, but cannot find that now. Any ideas? Thanks.

SOURCE: refrigerator compartment not cooling

If you are sure the fan in the freezer is running and you don't feel any air flow out of the top middle vent inside the fridge section, then the damper motor must be bad. The damper motor is behind that vent cover inside the fridge section.

SOURCE: Fridge and freezer not cooling down

It seems it's the defrost sensor (freezer side). Waiting for it to come, ordered this morning. It appears to be a defrost fault, having read on the web it seems you can check the defrost sensor with a meter across whilst holding the actual sensor in your hand tightly to see if the resistance changes, anyway it didn't. Will post when the new one comes and I change it.

SOURCE: My Kenmore side by side refrigerator is not freezing nor cooling.

surfgl,

The model you posted does not help me much but a rough estimate would be (from Sears) about $400.00 for the compressor + about $225.00 Serv Call and Labor. Possibly another $15.00 access valve and then tax.
The problem you have is that the compressor is locking up then it may run again for a short time. It will eventually lock up and not run again. If you can prove it is (by receipt) that it is less than 5 years old, Sears will repair it free under the sealed system warranty.
The model # and serial # should be on a sticker in the top front of the ref section. If not then on the left wall or right wall top front of ref section.

If this helped please rate me good. supertechks

when it stops cooling, you will see some ice build up in the freezer. Letting it sit unplugged melts the ice and you will see some water under the fridge. Connect power and it works. Cause: don't overload the fridge and the freezer. Make sure the doors close snugly. Clean all lint build ups by vacuuming under and behind the fridge after switching off power.

Sounds like you have a bad compressor. Try putting a hard start kit on the compressor and see if that helps, if not might need to change out compressor

clean the coils under the ref will help it to run less and cool better . and make sure the fan under there is going also . but the ice or frost that you found in the freezer is the problem . it has block the air flow that cools the fresh food side . this is caused by 1 ot three things . i would replace the defrost terminator on the top of the cold coil first and if this does not correct problem replace the defrost control ( timer or some times called the A D C . ) part # 6100 5988 ) the heater is pr # 61006199 and comes with the terminator . hopt this helps mm feed pack please ..

Freezer and fridge not cooling properly

Clean it up. Check under it and behind, clean ,vacume and or blow out all dust and check the fins on the bottom, a soft brush and portable air compressor work really well but very dusty, take out side if possible, or just vacume really well.

Refridgerator top freezer exterior wall hot

Hi.........
Folow these steps. It's worth a try.
1.Pull the fridge out from the wall and unplug it.
2. Clean the dust and lint off the compresser and everything else.
3. Also clean under the fridge.
4. The frame around the freezer door should cool down.

If the cooling fan was stuck , that may also be a cause for your refrigerator wall becoming hot.Check that too.
Hope My info is useful....Bye

Miele Fridge freezer - the freezer temperature indicator shows the temperature to drop from 20 to 10 in under one hour despite the door not being opened. By switching on the super freeze the temperature...

first...Check whether the ventilation gaps
have been covered over or become
dusty.
2. Check whether the metal grille (heat
exchanger) at the back of the
appliance has become too dusty.
It needs good area of circulation and clean coils/grilles.
it makes it hard to cool it down if dirty/dusty. I don't think the oven is doing it cuz operating in a room/outside which is too cold will cause the cooling system to switch
off for too long, causing the freezer
section to become too warm.
My best guess is vents and coils dirty/dusty.
