Dies when clutch disengaged

John Deere 265 Just this morning loaded mower on trailer to mow another location. No mower problem. Unloaded mower and it now dies when clutch is released and when blade switch is engaged Runs fine when clutch in. Will move if clutch partially pushed in - dies when fully disengaged.

It sounds like the seat switch is disconnected or failed. Check it out. If it thinks there is no **** on the seat it will cause your symptoms.

Make sure there isn't anything binding the deck belt or blades. Check the spindles for free movenent. If all that is good then it might be the linkage that is supposed to adjust the throttle when the engine is under load or it might be a carb issue...especially if you run ethanol gas in it.

There should be a switch in the clutch pedal area. Usually safety starts for tractors is that your clutch needs to be depressed to start engine and you need to be seated to turn blades. Good Luck....

With the engine OFF, reach underneath and locate the plug for the blade clutch and unplug it. Start up the mower and see if the blades are turning. If they are still turning with the clutch unplugged, REPLACE THE CLUTCH
