No it is not "safe" to use car seats after the dates printed on the back for simple issues such as wear and tear, weakening in the restraints, and just older designs that have been reinforced upon since thhat particular car seat was manufactured. I am a mother of three with two still in car seats and I would not suggest using the car seat. Also, if you have a used seat or plan on buying used make sure it is from a trusted source for the simple reason you do not want to use a seat that has been in an accident. In the state of Ga, it is actually against the law to use a seat that has been invovled in an accident.

Just got the heater core replaced in my 2005 chevy avalanche. Got it back and rear windows didnt work. They tried resetting the body control module but after no electric al stuff worked. Moonroof, heated...

Body Control Module (BCM)
On the lower left side of the I/P below the steering column is it's location .
The two rear passenger doors have there own switches. Each of the switches contain a power window up and down relay. A switch activation alone can control the up and down functions of the rear windows. However the BCM, upon receiving a Class 2 message from the DDM, can control the set of relays which will activate the rear window motors.
The BCM has nothing to do with operation of the moon roof , nor with the heated seats
Heated Seat Components
The heated seat system consists of the following components:
• Driver and passenger heated seat switches
• Driver and passenger seat back heater elements
• Driver and passenger seat cushion heater elements
• Driver and passenger seat back temperature sensors
• Driver seat module
• Driver door module
• Passenger door module
Nor does it have anything to do with 4X4 .
There is a main wiring harness behind the instrument panel ,an connectors . maybe one didn't get connected all the way . Hard to say what the problem could be without checking their work . Connection problems at the BCM . have to know how these systems work ,the BCM is what GM call's the power mode master , it receives inputs from the ignition switch
On vehicles that have several control modules connected by serial data circuits, one module is the power mode master (PMM). On this vehicle the PMM is the body control module (BCM). The BCM uses 3 signals from the ignition switch. These are the Ignition 0, Ignition 1, and Accessory.
To determine the correct power mode the BCM uses:
• The state of these signals
• The sequence of switch closures received by the BCM
• The status of the engine run flag

The BCM will then send messages on the serial data network to some of the module's an other's receive a wake up voltage signal via a BCM controlled relay . ign 1 or ign 3 . Very complex if you don't know about this stuff .
Fail-safe Operation
Since the operation of the vehicle systems depends on the power mode, there is a fail-safe plan in place should the body control module (BCM) fail to send a power mode message. The fail-safe plan covers modules with discrete ignition signal inputs as well as those modules using exclusively serial data control of power mode.
Serial Data Messages
The modules that depend exclusively on serial data messages for power modes stay in the state dictated by the last valid BCM message until they receive the engine status from the powertrain control module (PCM). If the BCM fails, the modules monitor the serial data circuit for the engine run flag serial data. If the engine run flag serial data is true, indicating that the engine is running, the modules fail-safe to Run. In this state the modules and their subsystems can support all operator requirements. If the engine run flag serial data is false, indicating that the engine is not running, the modules fail-safe to OFF-AWAKE. In this state the modules are constantly checking for a change status message on the serial data circuits and can respond to both local inputs and serial data inputs from other modules on the vehicle.
Discrete Ignition Signals
Those modules that have discrete ignition signal inputs also remain in the state dictated by the last valid BCM message received on the serial data circuits. They then check the state of their discrete ignition input to determine the current valid state. If the discrete ignition input is active, B+, the modules will fail-safe to the RUN power mode. If the discrete ignition input is not active, open or 0 voltage, the modules will fail-safe to OFF-AWAKE. In this state the modules are constantly checking for a change status message on the serial data circuits and can respond to both local inputs and serial data inputs from other modules on the vehicle.

Who did the work ? Do they have a factory Tech 2 scan tool ? Will the BCM communicate ?

I HAVE AND EDDIE BAUER 3 IN 1 DELUXE CONVERTIBLE CARE SEAT. I INSTALLED IT REARFACING YESTERDAY AND IT WAS SITTING TOO UPRIGHT SO I PUT 2 TOWELS UNDER THE BASE AND IT IS STILL TOO UPRIGHT. i SEE A LEVER...

One month old should not be in a car seat that allows for upright sitting. If it is convertible you have it in wrong. The seat should have a base unit which should be firmly fastened and the carrier should snap in and out of this base allowing you to carry your infant to and from the vehicle without having to detach the base every time you exit the vehicle. This is done so to prevent the unsafe installation of car seat under the stresses of time. If you seat is the kind that does not have a permanent base, go get one. It is very important that you do not modify the installation of any car seat for any reason. Placing a towel under the base as a barrier between the base and your seat is acceptable, but not to raise or lower the front or back as this may compromise its' design and decrease its' effectiveness. If you cannot figure it out, go to your local State Police Barracks where in most states they have a pregame designated for the safe installation of child infant seat carriers. This is very serious. The proper installation and choice in infant carriers can mean the difference of life and death in case of a relatively minor accident.

The car seat for baby has very short harness straps. Where can I order an extantion for harness straps?

There is no such thing as an extension for a carseat harness - it would be unsafe. The carseat harness has ample length for your child but will require extending as per the user manual to fit around the child safely.

Thought I knew the 4 number combination, now locked inside. I do have the key. However, safe not opening. What is the exact procudure for combo?

Without wishing to state the obvious, I feel that I must do so. A safe is called a safe for a very good reason. If it was easy to get inside without the correct key or combination then by definition it would be unsafe.

If you have lost the combination and the key doesn't work then you can either try every combination until you get lucky or you must consider calling out a locksmith who will usually open the safe destructively (often by drilling out the lock) or even by using an angle grinder on the hinges.

Need to move front passenger seat much further back

the only way to do this is to take the seat out remove it from the rails take the rails to a machine shop and have them weld on extensions for the seat to slide on. you will also have to remove the rear seat stop so it will go further back and have them make catches in the extension for the seat to catch onto.

Fuel pump and back seat replacement

You don't necessarily need a hoist, however it would be more convenient. If you are able to get the car off the ground a couple of feet and support it with jack stands, you can safely remove the tank and pump.
Good luck.

NEED MANUAL FOR ALPHA OMEGA CAR SEAT

I have an Alpha Omega that I bought 3 years ago. The phone number is 1-800-544-1108 but I dislike waiting so let me know what you need to know and I'll help as best as I can. I don't think the carseats change very often.

The "experts" say that it isn't a good idea to use a carseat if it's more than 10 years old.

Hope I helped.
