Yth2246 Husqvarna tractor 2 months old and blowing some black smoke when running at high idle. Additionally, there seems to be some sort of reoccurring noise coming from under from end of the tractor when moving. It sounds like it could be a belt slipping. not sure, any ideas??????

SOURCE: My Husqvarna lawn tractor started smoking terrible

You mean Briggs and Stratton. Sounds potentially expensive. Call a local small engine repair shop. They'll tell you how much it will cost. A new engine might be $1k. Repairs a few hundred.

SOURCE: i have a 2005 husqvarna lawn tractor. 24 hp, 48 in

sorry. I don't have an ansewer for you however I might have some helpful hints. Your mower should be going dam near 5 MPH. But yes can't cut in reverse. you have a belt going from the trans axle to the motor. It could be slapping against the frame. The idler puller or the tension pulley could be wobaly where the bearings are gone out. If you remove the 4 bolts on the back of the mower under the seat and gas tank it should visable tell you the story. My question is mine hits gears real hard as if trans mission needs oil or internal damage.

SOURCE: HYDRASTATIC TRANSMISSION DOESN'T MOVE

Far as I know the warranties are not transferable. Some hydrastatic transmission fluid can be checked by removing the battery and underneath there is a place to put the fluid and to check it. But not all models or makes gives you this option.

SOURCE: husqvarna yth1848xpt with a kawaskie 20 hp puffs black smoke

I had the same problem with my YTH1848XPT . Believe it or not it is simply a dirty air filter....you must remove the filter and blow it out with an air compressor...or better yet replace it. you can not clean it well enough without the force of the air compressor. Mine works great now.

Mower runs great, until you engagew the PTO. Brakes open fully, any suggestion?

sounds like the seat safety switch is not working. Check to see if both wires are connected to that switch. If they are.. then disconnect them, jump them together and see if mower runs Ok

Oil level rise on dipstick. Engine producer a dense cloud of white Smoke when running. Engine also runs rough.

Just a few things to check that might help. White smoke is normally caused by a lean running carburetor. Look for two adjustments on the carburetor. The low speed adjustment is a screw about center in the carburetor body. If there are 2 screws, look for a raised letter "L" next to 1 of the screws. Turn this for best run at idle. The high speed adjuster will be on the bottom of the float bowl or the second screw near the first one. Set this one for best run at high speed. High oil in the crank case is harder to detect. Check the crank case breather. It can be anywhere on the crank case. You need to remove a simple, sheet metal cover open at the bottom and normally has 2, 5/16 or 1/4 inch screws holding it on. Under it will be a small, round check valve or a small piece of hog hair. Whatever it is, clean it real well. Sorry this is so brief, its difficult without seeing it.

Black smoke would indicate it is burning oil, Has the machine been working on an incline.? check valve clearences. My guess is that oil is somehow getting into the cylinder.

Carb blows black smoke and runs bad but run good with no air filter or with a new filter

The old filter must be clogged. So if it runs ok with a new filter do you still have a problem?

I have a yth2246 riding mower. what type of oil should i use?

Hello,
Typ of oil - best for this engine is SAE 5W-30 and company - maybe Castrol.
If you change oil with oil filter you need oil 64 oz if without oil filter - 60oz.

Engine only runs at low idle and smokes

Hi,
So now, without the blades engaged, it smokes and then dies?
In your first description it sounded like the engine was under a strain. Overfilling with oil could produce a strain, but since it ran ok until you said you engaged the blades, I would have to ask if the blades themselves, were causing the strain. Sometimes if you cut wet grass, the clippings stick to your underside of the deck and can really build up. Also some rope, wire or twine would around the spindles could creat one. Check this out...
Now, with the "smoke" issue (I'm assuming a blue smoke from burning oil) I'm inclined to think your rings aren't compressing any longer and you're burning oil. You might be in for a rebuild... I hope not.
