I put a disc into the dvd recorder but it just keeps trying to read it and will not open/eject the disc. What can i do?
HOLD STOP BUTTON AND OPEN CLOSE BUTTON AT SAME TIME FOR 3 SECONDS REPEAT TILL DOOR OPENS
Yes, I'm having the exact same problem -- I can't eject the dvd that's in the player right now either manually or remotely. It plays fine.
Try turning off the unit.
BEFORE you power it On... Press the Disc Tray Open/Close button... then turn the power On with the Open/Close button depressed.
I've had this work on a number of different DVD players and even some professional grade videotape machines.
Good Luck.

This is a problem with either the logic or the power supply. Without seeing the machine and taking measurements inside, I can't state for sure the exact problem. These are decent machines. I would suggest that you bring it to an authorized Panasonic service center for a repair estimate. Post the results here and we'll suggest the next steps.

I have the same problem. I inserted a dvd yesterday and it kept "reading" it.. it does not eject or do anything else now. What can be the solution?
dvd is in tray. When trying to eject (open) SAFE appears on deck window and flashes a few times and then dissapears.
We can't eject disc. Can't open drawer. Nothing in owner's manual addresses "SAFE"
liteon 5045/dvd disc will not eject
have tried the two solutions suggested and neither works..(1.unplug, plug, power. stop., eject; 2.and press eject simultaneously with power)
