RCA DRC8295 DVD Recorder/VCR Combo Questions & Answers
RCA 8295n dvd-vcr combo starts recording from VHS
Is the VHS tape a store bought movie or show?
MacroVision and other copy protection systems are put into store bought tapes and discs of movies and shows, and are read by your recording equipment. Once it reads this, it stops recording.
Does the screen turn red before it stops? This is one of the indications that MacroVision is stopping you.
My DVD tray will not open, and with no disc inside
The DVD player in model DRC8295 uses a magnet to pull the Disc tray up into position. You can open up the front disc cover and push down slightly on the Disc tray and then push the open/close button to eject the tray. I had to do this on my unit and therefore I recommed leaving a Disc in it at all times. I leave a "Bad Disc" in mine and it opens/closes with no problems.
Dvd tray will not open or play
Hello,
The reason your player keeps reading a disc and do not play is because the the disc tray is not sitting the disc properly on the lens.
The disc tray is faulty, the mechanism that controls the opening and closing of the tray is damaged and needs repair.
To fix this, you have to get the appropriate screwdriver, open the cover of the player.
You will see a mechanism by the opening of the tray that controls the disc tray.
Get a replacement mechanism and change it. Mostly the rubber slacks and does not control the tray properly.
Changing the mechanism will solve the problem.
Take care
I'm unable to find DVD discs that will record in
I have found that the DVD recorder in this unit will not recognize a DVR+R disc greater than 8X speed. Therfore 16X discs are not an option. Like you already know, it likes DVD+RW 45X speed discs but it is selective. I have been using Maxell DVD+RW 4x and have found that Verbatim DVD+RW 4X and Sony DVD+RW 4X work just as well.

Dvd tray will not open it continues to read disc
Hi jary_arnet,
The problem of the unit is internal. The mechanical need to check for malfunction. The open/close motor that control the tray may be faulty and need to check also. If you don't have necessary tools and test instrument and can't do the job yourself I would advice you to look for a qualified technician to troubleshoot the unit...
Hope I helped you.
Have a nice day!
Thanks for using Fixya.
Wanting to find out what
Any types DVD dics that have DVD+R copying writing to the dvd disc to it only one time only or DVD+RW eraseable old materials buy copying some else on it.
I can not record. I get a the following: Impending
This happens because the rewritable disk is either worn out - try a new one - or that the disk must be formatted before use- you already have something on it that is corrupted .
BTW it's highly advised to use DVD-R disks in this unit.
But it may also be a very dirty laser lens - have you tried cleaning it?
The dvd disc will not
You can try a paper clip. Placing it exactly in the center of the door, slowly pull the door open, then slowly pull it back as far as it will go, then press eject button and it should realign itself back on track
Won't work with the same kind of discs i've used
I not sure as to which type of Discs that you are refering to (ie DVD+R or DVD+RW). This player will only recognize 4x (max) DVD+RW and 8x (max) DVR+R discs. If the DVD+R Disc is 16x, the DVD recorder will not recognize it once you start to record. The player will read the blank Disc and give the impression that it will record on it. I have noticed that when a 16x speed Disc is in the Drive, The recordable hours for the disc seems to double. The normal 6 Hour recording length comes up as 12 Hours when you hit the info button. Since the 8x Speed (max) discs are not available any longer, I found it best to use the DVD+RW 4x Discs and make it compatible. I then copy the compatible DVD+RW disc to a 16X DVD+R disc using my computer DVD burner. The DVD+RW disc can then be erased so that it can be reused.
DVD side will not open
The
DVD player in model DRC8295 uses a magnet to pull the Disc tray up into position. You can open up the front disc cover and push down slightly on the Disc tray and then push the open/close button to eject the tray. If this doesn't open the unit, you will have to unplug the unit and remove the cover. The cover is held in place by two silver screws on each side and five silver screws on the back of the unit. Once the cover screws have been removed, you can slide the cover towards the back halfway and then take the silver cover (held in place with two screws) off of the DVD player. Once the DVD cover is removed, insert a disc in the player and re-install the dvd cover and case cover. Plug the unit back in and eject and close the cover like normal. I have never tried to remove the magnet from the cover and checked to see if the DVD player still worked correctly. I have found it easier to just leave a Disc in it at all times. I leave a "Bad Disc" in mine and it opens/closes with no problems.
RCA model DRC8335 Loosing the date and time
That will be a problem from the text side of the broadcast, the clock is set from the text transmission, ( in other words a problem from the transmitter ) possibly due to digital switchover or work on the transmitters. One possible solution would be to turn off auto clock setting, and/or auto summer time adjustment.
Limited viewing
It sounds like the recorder will only record the dvd+ format, which does NOT need finalizing to play in other machines. ( you can record a dvd- , play it back on the machine you recorded it on, but need to finalize it to play on other machines)
The other units may only accept dvd-.(dvd- being the same format as you would buy or rent a film on)
One option, record the dvd on a dvd+rw (if possible) then copy to a dvd-r using your computer. The average use of a dvd+ is 1000 recordings.
There are many free disc burning suites available to download. Just google "free disc burning software" and take your pick.
I use 1 called "magix goya base" for copying disc to disc and "NTI" for burning to HDD and then to disc, if you only have use of 1 drive.
Cannot get digital output
Digital output is for the reproduction of 5.1 or higher surround sound. Though it will support 2.0 audio it is not meant to be hooked up to a tv, but meant to be hooked up to a surround sound reproduction device.
