Philips DVDR3440H DVD Recorder/HDD Recorder Questions & Answers
Status on recorder says load and I cant move it off there
I would take the other route: The remote can be tested without the unit--all shops(ours does) have a tester--point the remote and press any or all buttons and the tester reacts if the remote is sending a signal. Some digital cameras will react in the same way on their display screens in a dark room with a flash.check the remote first.

My draw will not open
Hi,
If you hire sound of motor (when you push the switch) who open the door then is rubber band on wheel inside DVD, or cd is stuck inside. In that case you can hook door with something and pool up easy!
If no light on displey, or don`t hear motor (when you push the switch) then is electronic circuit in DVD, then you must go in service.
Good luck.

Can't record from hdd to recordable dvd
Had the same problem on my 6month old 3440H, its the degradation of the cheap Asatech Chinese DVD drive that is the source of the problem. . My 3440H HDD to DVD transfer sequentially degraded, It stopped recording DVD+ and -R's then on RW's it sometimes performed and some not.I gave up using cheap DVD's then with higher quality disks it would frequently report task completed but then would not plaback or freeze in the way you describe. I bought the DVDR from the CO-OP Xmas 2006. Co-op no longer support electricals so when it went wrong Co-op gave me a service centre to take it to. Long story short Philips dont recognise the service centre and they declared my warrany void. Tried to re-engage with Philips but they basically were not interested in supporting their product..
Not an elegant fix but since Phillips were useless, I opened the box nothing ....to lose ..I now run it on a bare external Sony DVD drive using extended ribbon and power cables as its a bit tricky to find space in the box to mount the drive.
Regards
Murray

DVD RW stucked - stall the whole system.
Hi, I found this site today cos I had a similar problem. To cut a long story short I found a slot on the bottom of the machine, below the disc tray, that has a white lever in it. After removing the power source I moved the lever to the side and the tray opened manually so I could remove the disc. It seems It was a duff DVDR as other discs now work fine. Good luck !
