Laptop won't turn on, battery and power lights keep blinking

When I plug the laptop in, the battery and power lights just blink fast and random. I've pulled the battery and tried running just on AC, and it still flashes the same two lights without turning on. Any suggestions?

Looks like you are having a no post situation, generally a failed motherboard. Replacement motherboards are available on Ebay for around $100

My Acer KAV60 laptop won't turn on. When I push the power botton, it blinks green once then nothing.

Has the laptop been damaged? Dropped? Same on battery? Remove battery, try AC only. Try another cord/charger with the EXACT same power specs. Reseat Memory mods. Test the DC volt output, at the laptop plug in, with a multimeter. Power issues are difficult to diagnose long distance.

Why my pc presario x1000 power and lamp lights blink and the batteries can not be on my pc

I fix these laptops as a side business and sell refurbished ones on ebay...I've seen the problem you describe but I'd need to know more about how fast they are blinking, etc. When all the lights flash about 2-3 times per second, I've found it to be a motherboard issue normally caused by a faulty power jack. That can be fixed but it means disassembling the complete laptop down to the motherboard and either re-soldering or replacing the jack. If you have access to a charged battery, disconnect the AC adapter and try to get it to boot cleanly from the battery. This will tell you if the problem is at the jack or someplace else. Post your results and we'll go from here.

My sony vaio won't turn on

When you plug in the power cord is there any lightswhatsoever on the laptop, where the plug goes in or on the AC Adapter of thepower cord?

When you press the power button do you hear fans running, hard drive spinning, lights on the computer, hear any beeps or lights constantly blinking, hear theDvD/CD drive click and the light on the drawer of the DvD/CD turn on for asecond or two? If so the laptop is trying to boot or may have booted, butthe screen is not showing for some reason.

Beep tones and blinking lights tells the technicians what is going on with thelaptop and why it is not booting. Most times it's a motherboard issuewhen you hear beeps or blinking lights continuous.

Maybe your power cord is bad if you don't get anything to happen whatsoeverwhen you press the power button. And if that's true maybe you wasoperating off the battery the last time you had it on and since the power cordis bad, it was not charging the battery so the battery is drained and the powercord is bad.

Maybe you have a Static Charge Buildup. Remove the Power Cord, Remove theBattery, then Press and Hold the power button for 30seconds. After 30 seconds plug the power cord back in (leave the batteryout) and hit the power button to see if it boots. If it does, you can putthe battery back in and let it charge.

My packard bell zg 5 won't start after the battery has drained. When I plugged the charger in, the battery indicator only keeps on blinking and won't start.

Try removing the battery and then connecting the power adapter and see if the laptop will start normally with no battery installed - if it does, then you should get a replacement battery.

Turns the power button on and the power light keeps blinking in and out and the computer won;t come on

I would look into testing the laptop by taking out the battery and plugging in solely the charger, and try turning it on. If it doesn't work, it sounds like it can probably be an issue with the Motherboard or the RAM.

Is the blinking light an amber or green color? If amber, then it might be a RAM issue. If green, the power would be on, but the monitor might not be active/working.

Won't turn on. Battery is plugged in and lit. n

Try removing your battery pack. Then connect the power adaptor (even without the battery) and connect is directly to the power outlet. If it powers up, then the battery pack might be defective or totally drained.

If the battery is just totally drained, simply place the battery to the laptop. Do not turn the laptop on. Plug the power adaptor to the laptop and plug it to the power source. If you see that the charging LED is blinking in your laptop, then just leave it charging up to 5 to 8 hours.

Never use a laptop on battery mode while it is plugged in to a power source. This is the number 1 reason why laptop batteries don't last longer.

Laptop crashes shortly after boot, power light rapidly blinks red.

Its late, so just to make sure I'm not brain-dead basically your laptop runs fine as long as its powered by the AC adaptor but dies fairly quickly while running via battery. This is very typical of a battery that will no longer hold a charge, not normally a user repairable item. It could also be that the charging electronics (in the laptop) isn't charging the battery, again not a typical user repair job. About your only option short of taking it to the repair shop is buying or borrowing a battery as a test.
