Blades won'e engage

While cutting the lawn the blades stopped turning. I replaced both the blades and the deck belt. Tried it again but the blades don't engage - I don't hear anything when I move the clutch lever. The drive belt appears to be intact and so is the clutch cable. This model has a manual clutch 917-289344 42 inch Craftsman mower - Husquavarna built with Kohler engine. Thnaks for any suggestions.

Check proper belt routing. These models are a little tricky. Also check tensioner spring.

First check to make sure you can turn each blade by hand, with the mower off. If neither blade spindle is frozen remove the deck and make sure all the pulleys move freely and function like they should. The cable should have been operating a spring loaded pulley arm that applied tension to the deck belt to make the blades function. Some times build up with block that from moving or rust will make it stick.

When I engage the blades nothing happens. Any ideas?

I have a YTH 150 with a similar problem. The mower has an electrically powered clutch which is activated when you engage the blade button. If the drive belt has no tension on it, engaging the clutch doesn't do anything because the drive wheel will just spin but the blades won't. Look for broken tension springs on the mower deck and replace.

I have white zero turn 54" lawn mower. The engine runs but the blades won't turn on. Please any advise will help

This is a belt adjustment problem. You machines belt has either broken, or is loose to the point where it won't engage the blades at all, or has just slipped off the pulley. I believe the belts are on top of the deck covered by removable covers that are bolted to the deck. Check and see. GOOD LUCK.

The mower starts but the blade switch won't conect yth1542xp

Husqvarna uses an electronic clutch to engage the mower deck. When the clutch works itself out of adjustment it will quit working. Sometimes it will blow the 20 fuse and the tractor will continue to run, but the blade won't engage. When you then shut off the tractor it won't crank again until you replace the fuse. When you attempt to engage the blades again, the fuse will blow again.

Follow this link for a detailed description of the adjustment process:

Check shear pins in the blades . Tyr turning by hand with power shut off. If you can turn by hand then I am sure the shear pins are broken. Check drive belts as well.
