Check you firewalls. Sometimes you will have to allow certain mac addresses or certain ip addresses (may be less secure than the mac address), then change sharing level to full, before things begin to work.
You could purchase a ethernet print server which will allow you to connect your printer to the router via ethernet cable. I recommend the TPLink TL-PS110U. I use this for one of the printers in my office.
Alternatively, you could purchase the TPLink TL-WPS510U. This is a wireless print server. It will give you some freedom if you wish to locate your printer to somewhere other than beside your router.
The specifications for this printer reveals it has no network capabilities at all. You can connect this printer to a computer and set it up as a shared printer and if you have a wireless router connected to this computer and printer then you can print from a laptop using a wireless connection.
If you printer hasn't a built-in wireless connection and if you haven't a wireless router then - You need a wireless router plus print server. Connect this print server to the wireless router with a LAN cable. Then the printer is then connected to the print server's printer port. The laptop's wireless card is then configured with the router's wireless settings. The laptop is then installed with the printer driver and the printer port needs to be changed/configured with the print server's IP address. ALTERNATELY If the printer is connected to a desktop computer on your home LAN and it is also connected to your wireless router. Then you can set this printer as A Shared Printer on your desktop computer, but this desktop computer and the printer has to be powered up for the laptop to print to the printer. For an effective wireless connection, the printer should be connected to one of the LAN ports of a configured wireless router. This way, every pc(mostly laptops with wireless capability) can print to the printer. You will need a wireless adapter for desktop pcs to access any resource made available wirelessly ok. Good luck
1) you need it to print from a laptop if you do not want to have to set up another computer, and mobile phone have bluetooth buit in 2) YES 3) set up the printer on another computer, and set it for sharing. Then make sure that you laptop is recognized in the network connections wizard, then on the laptop select add new printer and select the bullett that say a network printer. the rest is pretty easy, select browse for a printer or something, it is the first option, select it, say yes to all dialogue boxes, and let the computer do the rest.
I presume that the printer is not directly connected to the PC. Now if the Printer is connected to the USB port on the router, you have to check if the router detects it and the printer server is online. Also since u changed the router, you will have to change the settings in your PC to reflect the IP address of the printer server (the router.)
If the MP830 is connected wirelessly to the router, make sure that the IP address of the printer is in the same subnet as your laptop. (Check the configuration settings, they can be configured using a browser by pointing it to the IP address of your printer)
