I cannot send email because it is placed in outlook stating the server does not permit relaying

There's a lot you don't say in your message, but if your email is with a web-based email provider, like gmail, yahoo, aol, etc. You must use that account through a web browser and not with Outlook.

I most often see this when someone clicks on an email link on a contact-us web page that is connecting directly to an email address. The computer launches Outlook, but has no Outlook account.

Here's what to do, if that is what you are running into:
  1. right-click on the link in the web-page and choose copy email address.
  2. Next, bring up your web-mail account in a web browser and compose a new message.
  3. In the TO box, right click and choose Paste to paste in the copied email address.
  4. Proceed the same as you normally do to send an email message to that address.

The internet said that they can not bring up your web page.

Internet Explore Cannot Display the Webpage
As you browse the Web with Internet Explorer, you may occasionally encounter an error message about the browser being unable to display the requested Web page.
If your browser is unable to display a page, the issue lies somewhere along the path from your computer to the remote website. In some cases, you can resolve the issue by troubleshooting your computer or Internet connection. Internet Connection Issue
If Internet Explorer is unable to display any pages at all, see if you are able to browse the Web on another computer.
If none of the computers in your home can browse, the problem is related to your Internet connection.
In some cases, you can resolve an Internet connection issue by unplugging the power connections for your broadband modem and router temporarily.
If you are still unable to browse, contact your Internet service provider for further assistance.

Malicious Software
If you are unable to browse the Web on your computer but can browse on other computers, the computer itself has an issue. In some cases, this can mean that your computer is infected with malicious software.
Download an anti-virus program on another computer and run it on the affected computer to troubleshoot the issue.

User Error If you receive an error in Internet Explorer when you attempt to browse to a single website, but other websites work, check to make sure that you are entering the address of the website correctly.
By default, Internet Explorer searches the Web for a close result if the address you entered is not associated with an actual website. If you have disabled this feature and enter a website address incorrectly, Internet Explorer displays an error message.

Remote Website Issue

If you are unable to browse to a single website and are certain that you have entered the website address correctly, it is likely that the website itself has a problem.
You can wait and attempt to view the website again later, or search for the website on Google or another search engine and click the "Cached" link to view a recent cached copy of the website.

D-Link DES-1008D 8-Port drivers

Drivers are not required, the device is a networking device and doesn't interact with the OS directly anyway.
What you might be looking for is the Web Interface that allows you to change settings, update firmware etc.
By default most are configured to either 19.168.0.1 / 10.0.0.1 / 10.1.1.1
Open your web browser, type one of those into the web address bar until you find the one that brings up the web page, from here you should be able to configure a few things.
If you are unsure click start > run > type: cmd > hit enter> a dos prompt appears, now type: tracert www.google.com
You will see IP addresses appear as the computer traces the path the packets are taking to reach google, what you are interested in is the first address that is in that list, that should be your switch ip address and all you have to do now, is type that address in your browser address bar. This should now bring up the configuration page for the switch.

Still unsure of the address, head to D-links website and find the support link and search for your model of switch, from here you can bring up the detailed users guide which will contain instructions on how to access the Web interface also.

Need to allow a telnet session thru a speedstream 5660 modem/router having a public ip and allow it to connect to a private ip on the internal LAN. how do i accomplish this?

According to the user manual:
Page 16:

HTTP Web-browser Access

Most HTML browsers can be used, though Internet Explorer 4.0 or Netscape 4.0 are recommended. IE 2.0 and Netscape 2.0 and their predecessors are not supported. The HTML interface can be used to access the LAN (or WAN) IP address or it can be used with FTP to upload and download files to and from the router.

To log on to the modem via HTML:

1 Bring up your favorite web browser.

2 Enter the Ethernet IP address of the router (10.0.0.1 or Speedstream) in the "Location" or "Address" area where you enter web page addresses.

3 Refer to "HTML Web Interface" on page 20.

Page 20:

HTML Web Interface

The HTML interface for the router first displays a page showing the current configuration of the router. The first page also provides links to the following functions:

.

.

.

Advanced Setup

Leads to a more detailed interface with several links that allow more in-depth configuration of functions available on the router. This interface provides the following links:

Configuration Procedures

Status and Statistics

Command List

This is where the user manual ends. I would suggest clicking "Configuration Procedures" and find the section for configuring Network Address Translation (NAT).
In that section (if it exists), you'll want to provide the private IP address of the computer running the Telnet server and forward port 23 to this IP address.
If NAT capabilities do not exist, I would consider changing the router to Gateway mode (described in the user manual) and buying your own router to handle the NAT firewall.

How do you manually connect a computer to the router? Trying different cables in port 1 but does not register to the computer. Please help!

You need to connect a standard network patch cable between port 1 and the ethernat port on your computer. To access the Web-based Utility, launch Internet Explorer, and enter the Router’s default IP address, 192.168.1.1, in the Address field. Then press Enter. This should bring up the router confiuration web page.
The password request page should appear. Leave the User Name field blank. The first time you open the Web-based Utility, use the default password admin.(You can set a new password from the Administration tab’s Management screen.) Then click the OK button.

Cannot get on the internet

Hi

The problem was in the wep key. I entered the old wep key, not recalling that we had to trade our router in for a new one last summer. When I entered the new wep key we were able to get online.
