My 3rd gen Nano is doing the same thing. It will only charge when plugged in to the USB. It used to charge on the Bose, but not anymore!! Is it the iPod or the Sounddock thats broken!? Anyone know?

Ipod nano rebooting on the docking station

Hello, The problem is that some of the pins onteh docking connector are shorting to others. Shorting the supply on you ipod. Don't do it!

Diagnostic videos and spares for the Bose SoundDock. There are several builds of the Bose SoundDock Original that look identical from the outside. If you visit invebo.com and enter your dock serial number you get access to the resources that tell you which version the dock's internal hardware you have in your dock, diagnostic and self repair videos and what kits you should buy to fix or upgrade to charge or Bluetooth wireless streaming. All spares are supplied on a no-risk 'buy and try' basis.

I just bought the ipod nano 6th generation and it will not charge in the Bose docking system....my old one charges with no problem.....is there a fix for this? The nano plays fine it just wont charge

If it is a different model iPod then it is likely the Bose dock does not support the newer model. Quite often changes such as from iPhone 3 to iPhone 4, Bose had to release a new dock. The speakers and music will still always work, but the support will be limited for charging. Unfortunately you will not be able to fix this, other than upgrade the dock, or go back to your old ipod.

Thumps Up!

My ipod wont stay charged

This may not be the answer you are looking for but your I pod might not be fully charged, meaning that you are not plugging it in the computer/docking system long enough.( it takes much longer than 15 minutes to charge the battery. So you might want to plug it in/dock it over night) Or you may be playing a game that uses a lot of MB/GB so it kills the battery. And make sure that you press the play/pause button down for at least five seconds before switching the little switch at the top of your I pod. If you don't press the play/pause button for five seconds and just switch the switch at the top a little lock will appear on the left corner meaning you need to hold the play/pause button down for five seconds then the i pod screen goes black at that time flick the switch at the top off. -hope it helps owner of i pod nano and I pod touch.

I have a new ipod nano but when i put on to docking speakers it says it does not support charging

Your iPod is newer than the dock and I'm not sure why Apple does this, other than to sell more hardware, but your iPod is not compatible with your dock, so it will not allow charging. You can probably still us it for playing music, just not for charging. Sorry

I pod charges, plays, but no sound

Easy, I had this problem too. The reason it isn't playing is because its not in all the way. I was getting very frustrated with this, so I kept trying to push it onto the dock to get it all the way down.
Solution:
1. Play a song on your ipod/iphone so you can hear it through the device.
2. Connect your ipod/iphone to the docking station(Bose) so that you hear the chime(This lets you know its charging).
3. Pick up the docking station and firmly press the ipod/iphone down on the connector.
4. Keep pressing it and wiggling around until you hear the music begin to play through the docking station.
It may take a few tries, but you will get it.
Hope this helped!

New ipod nano not compatable with bose docking

This is true. The new iPod nano is not compatible with the original SoundDock. This only means that it won't charge the iPod's power. Audio should be okay. This is an Apple issue. They changed the way almost all of their iPods charge (except the iPod classic). Bose can upgrade the SoundDock for their normal repair fee of $99. This would also you a new 1 year warranty.

for some **** reason the new ipod nano (4th generation) does not support FireWire and therefore will not charge on any docking station that is a FireWire power sorce - which seems to be most of them out there!
have same problem so will end up charging from computer as docking station still plays the new nano, no point in buying new docking station just for sake of charging!
