Belkin router won't connect to facebook

Won't connect to facebook through router

  • Anonymous Feb 04, 2013

The same thing is happening to us. We cannot connect to Facebook with any computer and the same router. Interestingly enough, I can connect to FB if I go directly through the modem. I've hard reset the router and changed my IP through comcast. Strange that its the same router.....

I figured it out. The "firewall" enabled on the router blocks facebook. Disabled we can get through.

SOURCE: Belkin Nimo wireless router internet drop outs

There are a few things that can cause you to lose wireless connection with your wireless router.
1. Weak signal strength, check the signal strength on your wireless card. If it is weak move the wireless router away from walls and if possible locate the wireless router higher up.
2. Have you secured your wireless router from people near your from unauthorized access? Ie. change the default password, setup encryption use WAP2 or WAP, change the default SSID, and turn off SSID broadcast, and for added protection, enable MAC address filtering which allows only the MAC address/es of your wireless card/s to connect to your wireless router.
3. You could be getting interference from electrical sources such as air conditioners, ard welders, washing machines etc. If so the power supply to the wireless routers and computers etc should be connected to a surge protection power board, better still connect your computer equipment to an UPS (Uninterrupted Power Supply) .
4. Check the channels of the wireless routers and access points in your area and and change the broadcast channel on your wireless router to an unused channel or one that has the weakest signal strength. This will minimize the interference with your wireless router from the wireless routers and access points in your area.

Hi,
Welcome to Fixya. The security key or password can be found when you access the wireless settings page of the router. To access the router page you need a working computer that is connected to the router. To access the router page just open a browser then type 192.168.2.1, the Default password is blank.

Click on Security under Wireless and look for the Security Key or
Network Key (Passphrase). You can also personalize the network key if you want to.

You can also refer to the screenshots below.

SOURCE: Hello, I do not know much about troubleshooting

Thank you for using fixya.

Being that your other computers in the network are working properly, you should switch the ip settings on your comnputer to automatically detect. That way your computer does all the routing and ip setting,

After you have set that back. Remove the power of your router, remove the power of your modem, and restart your computer.

Once your computer is back up, turn on modem, then the router.

It sounds very simple, but in most cases, it solves the problem.

Hope this information is helpful

My belkin f9k1002v1 router won't work.

Try resetting the router.
To reset the Belkin back to the default settings -
Press and hold the pinhole RESET button at the back of the router and then power for at least 15 secs. Then release the RESET button.
Connect a LAN cable from Belkin to your laptop/computer's LAN port, open a browser on your laptop/computer and enter the Belkin's configuration URL. http://192.168.2.1
The default PW = blank (just press Enter) You can now change the default admin password.
You can now configure the wireless settings. Now configure the wireless card in your computer/laptop with the router's wireless settings. To secure your wireless network from unauthorized access, please click on this link and follow my instructions :- http://www.fixya.com/support/r3559128-wireless_router_security

Belkin n750 db connects with windows 7 laptop, but will not connect with xp laptop. It will not let me enter the password.

It is possible that, if you have the router set to wireless N only, your XP machine won't interact with it. Your XP adapter probably doesn't support wireless "N"--you'll have to tell the router to use "N" or "G"

My Belkin F5D8236-4 v3 Router won't turn on. We had a storm last night and the power went out but the router won't turn on. I have tried to plug it into different outlets to see if that would work...

Try resetting the router. There should be a little hole somewhere on it with a button inside that you can press with a paperclip. Try holding that button down while you unplug then plug the router in while holding it (if possible). If that doesn't work, I'd suspect the storm might've damaged the router somehow. Was it plugged into a surge protector, and/or have you noticed any other issues with anything else that was turned on at the time?
