You can only do that if the TV and your laptop have a VGA connection. I'm not quite sure but I don't think any CRT tv's had a VGA connection. You may be able to get a VGA to RCA adapter though. Make sure the adapter has the right gender though. Such as Female vga in Male RCA out. Good luck!

Try by adjusting the picture resolution for both TV and laptop. Cable is OK. Otherwise, you wont get any picture at all.

It's not on a channel, it's the RGB or VGA inputs. (check your "Source" menu on the TV). Works fine here. When the units are talking to the TV the screen on the unit will go blank. One thing. When using your iPad, tghe battery will go down faster than normal.

Unfortunately, there is no simple VGA-to-RCA adapter cable if you're connecting to a composite video input (usually colored yellow) or s-video input. VGA output is separate red, green and blue video and synchronizing signals, and they all need to be combined. You need a VGA-to-video converter to do this.

If the projector has component video input jacks, then you can buy a simple adapter cable.

You need an Video out, adapter cable, for your model Laptop, IF yours indeed does have the ability to TV out, the "output" is "Composite Video" and goes into the Composite Video "IN" on the TV. Audio is taken from Line Out in laptop & goes to AV audio in, via a Phono Jack to RCA converter plug. Also it must have correct drivers and be enabled and have desktop extended to the TV either Cloned or Spanned.
Usually one connects up to the TV, powers TV on & then Turn your laptop on.
You may have a Yellow RCA socket on the back/side of your laptop, otherwise you have to get a converter cable.

Change your setting in display properties.

sounds to me like a connection problem. If the compaqs output is vga, you need to convert the input (tv side ) to hdmi, component, s-vidio... what ever you can find. Typically when you hook up your computer to a flat screen or such, its best to try to use the hdmi ports or the rpg. But if thats not available you need to take the outout from your laptop ( whatever type that might be and input it into your flat screen tv. If you input laptop into tv under ( eg..HDMI) then when you VIEW it you need to select the correct source on your flat screen. Such as hdmi or pcmi or rpg.I know that the do sell alot of cables that adapt from one type of connection to another. Typically only one cable is required from the laptop to the flat screen. If you think about it you are only using the flat screen as a monitor.

usually laptops have vga conector for external display, you may need a cable, vga cable.

vga cable varies depends on the connection that you have on the tv, if your tv supports vga connectors thats great, some tv doesnt have that option, thats where adapters go in to adapt what ever ports or connections you have on your tv.
