What is the parking mechanism? Can I get an illustration somewhere? Thanks

  • Anonymous May 11, 2010

Turn the printer on and as soon as the print head tries to make a move, pull the power cord out of the back (or turn the power off at the mains switch). See if you can now move the print head by hand away from the parking position on the right. If so, see if the parking mechanism is broken or jumped out of position so that it fouls the print head. Report back.

Head won't move far enough to the left to get cartridges out

seems a case of carriage jam n needs servicing..
howevr, do it if ur printer is out of warranty and u r a professional..
check for loose/faulty carriage-belt and the drive-assembly..jammed/sticky cleanser-unit (esp the rubber, gears n base)..
also chance of defective/faulty photo/opto-coupler 'sensor(s)'..the diodes and resistors in dis section..
always better to hv professional supervision, contact ur system admin/vendor....

Weird noise from printer carriage

The loud clicking noise is probably the carriage trying to move and something is keeping it from doing so. Check to see there are no foriegn objects obstructing the carriage head from moving across the paper. If nothing is found, then likely a hardware error exists.
hope this helps!

I am receiving an error message on my HP Officejet 6110 printer screen that prevents the printer from functioning. The message is "Open door. Clear carriage jam and then press enter." I've tried opening...

yes, that is a carriage jam and not paper, the grinding is from the clean station that gets blocked with dried ink and cant move. you need to open the printer and clean the ink off of the clean station so it can clean properly and not cause a carriage jam.

Red warning lights remain on.....

Ink and paper light on : head carriage error/general error. Head can't move extremely to right : head carriage blocked or CR motor error. Turn of printer, unlock head carriage lock. Move head left and back to right (to parking position). Is it move freely?

1400 carriage

if the printer power light is off and the paper and ink light are flashing there are a few things you can try.
1. remove all paper from the printer.
2. lift cover and check for paper jam
3. check to see that the ink cartridge cover is completley closed. (the covers do actually pop themselves open and jam)

if none of these fix your problem then your in the hands of epson tech support. they can be reached @ 562-276-7282

Ink carriage jammed

Well, I'm not too happy that the only response I got was solicitation for the Premium Assistance Plan.

Figuring that the printer had pretty much died, I allowed my husband, Mr. Fix-It, to give it a try. He simply pushed up on the front end of the ink carrier and slid it into the opening. This allowed him to get at the cartridges and push gently down on the new cartridge I'd installed. It had not been seated completely. Works fine now.

I'd be curious to know why I found a huge ink spot under the printer. It has probably been there for quite some time, as I usually just dust around things rather than move them.
