One of the most important parts of the Video - It's a great Video by the way - is the switch being shown at the 3:08 mark in the video. I recommend watching the entire video to see how to disassemble the Power Brush Assembly. Anyway, if that switch shown in the Video fails, it will prevent the beater bar (rotating brush) from working. It could be stuck on or off. Ours was stuck off and would not turn on. The switch did not spring back and click like shown in the video.
This happened on ours and a quick call to Shark Corp got a replacement Motorized Floor Brush Assembly on the way and a prepaid shipping label to send back the defective one.
They need your model number on the silver sticker and the date code on the power cord plug - code is on one of the blades that plugs into the wall. it is stamped into it. We are out the vacuum till the new part gets here, but I have to give them props for great customer service and an easy warranty claim process.

Not certain what the stated warranty period is for the Shark Rotator Pro. If the LED lights work but the green brush light does not come on, it is either the circuit board or the green micro switch. It is more likely the latter micro switch, which is a moving or mechanical part. If you possess elementary soldering skills, that green micro switch circled in one of the respondent's photos can be replaced for a couple of dollars. To test, check for continuity between the connectors with the switch open and closed. You will have to peel back the shrink tubing behind the switch in order to test it with an ohm meter. Without using an ohm meter, the switch should have a clicking sound between the open and closed positions. No click or continuity indicates a bad micro switch. What you need to find is a Donghai KW4-3Z-3 miniature limit switch. You can just google it, but I picked mine up through oddwires.com. Unfortunately, these type of switches are usually the weak link across an array of products on the market. If you are not one to throw things out due to failures like this, give it a try. Know ahead of time that the switch is not only soldered, but it also has heat shrink tubing protecting the soldered connection and exposed wiring. The switch part number I have included has three connections. Just ignore the connection in the center and solder the two outside connections.
What a terrible switch design! I Just fixed this problem on a family member's vacuum and I'm surprised the switch ever works at all for anybody, haha. Thanks for the tips, though.
THANK YOU!!! I spent 4 hours taking vacuum apart (diagnostics) and calling Shark and checking internet. Ran across your video, BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY your comment about the switch mechanism in the vacuum head that is circled above. It was malfunctioning. I just bypassed the switch mechanism and now vacuum works fine. You saved me lots of time, frustration, and $$. Thanks again.

Your rotator brush probably has hair and lint rolled up in it. The best thing to use to clean it out is a seam ripper. Works way better than a sharp knife or razor blades.
I called Shark, and the technician had me separate the base from the "stem," check for any debris, and then snap it back together again. It worked fine after that... perhaps the connections weren't totally connected there.
Some of these answers are just a little silly. If your Shark Rotator's belt is not turning. Either the Brushroll is frozen due to hair or similar contamination, and/or the belt is stripped or broken. One of the comments stated that the belt might be stretched. A cogged belt will never stretch. Well maybe, but I have never seen it in 24 years of servicing vacuums. If the belt and brush roll all look good, and the belt is connected to the brush roll motor, and with it all assembled, and the switch on the main unit is in the brushroll on position, and there is still no function. If the brushroll lights are on but there is no motor noise or function you wont need to do this next step... Which is to get out your voltmeter, and with the brush roll unit removed from the main canister, check for voltage on the high AC scale on the pins exiting the the main canister while it is running.
If you find around 100 volts of potential on your meter or your test light shows power, then the fault is in the circuit card, or there is a loose wire in the powerbrush, so check for that too. If it looks like it's an electrical fault in the powerbrush, you will need to contact SHARK EuroPro for a replacement unit. If your unit is still under warrantly, you will receive that free of charge. Don't bother with contacting your local Vac Shop for help, Shark does not sell any parts for repairing these. If your unit is out of warranty, think ahead and decide whether you want to spend the money for the new powerhead. It is probably time for filters as well, so get a complete work up on the whole shebang filters and needed part before you decide. Your local vac shop will have filters available. Not the final HEPA, but the other filters, and probably for less than SHARK will sell them to you for. THE HEPA is still proprietary, but that may change soon. What do I think of the SHARK? It's OK for Light to moderate use in most homes. Best in homes that are already mostly clean, and just need to be vacuumed about once a week to keep them that way. For a serious vacuum see your local vacuum shop. I am here in Fallbrook California, and my personal favorite is the German made SEBO upright for most homes. For a little more than a Dyson, you get a real peice of refined commercial quality level equipment, capable of two decades of service in moderate home use. A Sebor hardly ever needs service or any sort of repair, and most problems can be solved by the consumer almost instantly right at home. There are a number of reasons why your brush roll has stopped spinning on your Shark Rotator. Here are a few things to check for when trying to fix your Shark.
First things first lets focus on the brush roll. Unplug the vacuum and turn it on its side. Look for any noticeable clumps of debris or hair strands that may be caught in the brush roll. Remove these obstructions, probably best to do so with a scissor if it's hair or long pieces of carpet fibers. After removing the debris try manually rotating the brush roll to uncover other hidden clogs. Another thing to take note of is the condition of the bristles on the roll itself. Are they loose or worn down? These are signs that your brush roll is in need of replacing.
While checking out your brush roll you might as well take a look at your vacuums belt. This could be the other reason why your brush roll has stopped spinning. Your belt should be replaced about every three months. After regular usage, the belt will stretch out, lessening the tension on the brush roll. Lesser tension diminishes the brush rolls turn rate and speed. If the belt feels loose then it certainly is effecting your vacuums suction as well as your brush roll not moving at all.

Usually when the brushes won't turn it is due to a bad turbine. Insert a screwdriver into the square hole that the pin on the brush fits into, and see if it turns. If it is seized up, the turbine assembly will need to be replaced.

With the machine switched off, press the re-set switch on the side of the head, making sure you push the button in as far as you can. When you switch the machine back on and lower it into the vacuuming position, the brush bar should start turning. --------The brushes don't spin if the unit is placed upright. First off check that you haven't pressed the button that turns the brush on and off.-- But if that is turned ON.Then the other possibility can be clogged brush with dirt. take a look at the brush bar to see how much hair and debris is caught in there. If there is very little then you probably don't have much to worry about and you can press the brush reset bar on the side of the vacuums head and your problem with they Dyson brush not turning can be fixed. The 2 metal pins of the motorized brush are not in contact with the vacuum cleaner. or the Motorized brush is clogged up. You have mentioned that it is cleaned, but still give a thorough inspection. For the metal pins, firmly insert the motorized brush into the air-intake nozzle. This will connect the motorized nozzle to the unit power supply.

How long are you letting it charge for? It's also possible the battery is defective, or there is a short in the vac.

I had the same problem, I took out the brush and found that dog hair had worked its way under the gear and around the axle. I had to get a small pair of scissors and cut it out and pull it out with tweezers until it turned freely again.

Roller won't spin, checked to see if clogged, checked belt, plenty of tension, light indicator won't come on to let you know that the roller should spin, checked filters, everything seemed ok, thought maybe the motor went, had to believe, considering how much u pay for this item, but it happens, I didn't put a volt meter on it to test it, because I don't own one, everything seems connected properly, I can hand spin the roller belt rolls fine , everything in the motor spins, maybe the switch that sends the signal to the motor? ? Really don't know , could use some help

On mine, one of the three pins that sends power to the lower head was stuck up to the point that it wasn't making contact. Problem solved.
We had cleaned up flour months ago and flour was preventing good contacts. Cleaned out and vacuum back in business.
I called Shark, and the technician had me push the black button to disconnect the base from the "stem" of the vacuum cleaner, look for any debris, and then put it back together again. It worked fine after that.
