There are two wires to the red rocker switch, one is from the ignition unit the other is an earth return, the wire from the unit slots into the side of the red plastic switch it is moulded to take the terminal, the other wire connects to a chrome strip, this strip is the earth return, as the red switch is placed in the stop position it touches the wire from the unit to the earth strip and stops the engine, make sure the wire has not come adrift from the side of the switch, if not check both wires down to the unit with a continuity tester.

Find an Operators and an IPL here:
HusqvarnaUSA.com
http://www.husqvarna.com/us/homeowner/support/download-manuals/
Enter the 3 digit model number (no XPs, Es, just the numbers)
Serial number decode – for use with IPL
06 1500198
06 = year produced – 2006 (single digit before 2000)
15 = week produced - March
00198 = 198th unit Husky produced that week

Fuel ratio 50:1 = 1gal premium/2.6oz quality 2-cycle engine oil
Fuel/Oil Mixture

  1. Use a quality 2 cycle oil and mix it to the OIL supplier's recommended ratio. Today I use Stihl 2 cycle oil mixed @ 50:1 in a Pioneer that I purchased new in 1980. There are no gouges or scratches on the piston or cylinder and I have no carbon build up on the piston top. The manual (on stone tablets) recommends 24:1. Over the years the mixture has leaned from 24:1 (Saw Recommendation) to 28:1 (Lawn boy mower recommendation) to 32:1 (Oil provider 2gal premium/8oz chainsaw 2-cycle engine oil - used for many years) and finally the last 5 (±) years 50:1 (1gal premium/2.6oz Stihl 2-cycle engine oil)
  2. Any fuel containing ethanol is not good with chainsaws. Mix what you expect to use within a few weeks. Anything over 1.5 months old use up in a 4 cycle engine. HTH

SOURCE: husqvarna rancher... chain tensioner not working

A Husqvarva IPL for a 455 Rancher 2005-01, follows (may not be your saw):
http://weborder.husqvarna.com/order_static/doc/usa/2005/I05000/I0501036.pdf
See print "A" (clutch cover) pn 537 28 64-01 & pn 503 21 70-10, if missing or loose these may cause your problem. If not an inspection of the parts beneath may disclose the defect.

If the bar is what can be moved pn 537 28 65-01 or 537 28 66-01 may be stripped. After I determined what parts need replacement, I would contact a local Husky Dealer. They may have these parts on hand and if not ordering through them should save you shipping and handling fees.

If your saw was not manufactured between Jan 2005 and Mar 2005 you can find your IPL here:
HusqvarnaUSA.com
http://www.husqvarna.com/us/homeowner/support/download-manuals/
Enter the 3 digit model number (no XPs, Es, just the numbers)

06 = year produced – 2006 (single digit before 2000; please contact Husqvarna for single digit clarification http://www.husqvarna.com/us/homeowner/support/customer-support/)
15 = week produced – March
00198 = 198th unit Husky produced that week

SOURCE: I have a new hasky 460 rancher stalls when given

If it stumbles at full throttle, the fast (high) idle screw is set too rich. Using your owner's manual, locate the high idle adjustment and back it off in very very small increments. Do this until the saw will run wide open without stumbling.

Replace sprocket on rancher 460

The factory do not offer a rim sprocket for the 455/460, they are classed as semi pro saws and as such get a spur sprocket, there may be an Oregon after market one available.

Husquvarna 460 rancher 20" bar all new including

The normal reason for a saw to cut to the left, or right is because the cutters have been sharpened more on side than the other, they are now longer on one side, this then sends the cut off to that side. Measure the cutter lenghts, take the correct file and shorten the longer cutters

The chain may have the procedure but the driver plate is worn out - what happens when you are not attached to the chain lubrication oil lubrication channels or if the chain is about or when the pump is not working.

I have a Husqvarna 460. I have had to get my oiler replaced twice now. It just stops working. Is this a common problem with the 460? What is the reason why they stop working?

It sure is, there have been issues with the pick up pipe kinking, the filter being to fine to allow oil flow, it is possible to increase oil flow by increasing the angle on the pump shat, but this is a dealer mod.
