It's the same guage as the 1st ignition, in the same location with same voltage.

  • Al Miller Oct 06, 2012

the only white wire I found was in the harness connected to a white plug and the white wire had no power to it,and no one here could answer my follow up question, so I connected a green wire I found from remote and connected to white wire in harness and have power to white thin wire when key turned to on to start truck, but still have check engine light on,when key turned to off no power to white,,,can someone tell me how to get the checkengine light off,I scanned for codes and found that 3 codes I got were all for transmission and I need 2nd ign, wire, does anyone here know if the 2nd ign wire is a different colour in a 2002 SONOMA WITH 4.3L engine, found 2 wiring diagrams and they have diferent colour wires in the wiring harness, other colour for 2nd ign, says might be brown, could this be possible different coloured wires for different size engines, really need to get truck running thanks

If you are sure that everything is connected properly, then the only explanation could the ground when running from the remote starter to the bypass. If you are using data to data(D2D), switch over to wire to wire. Test the ground when running connection from the remote starter (white) to the ground when running connection of the Xpresskit (blue). You could even go so far as to connect the ground when running of the bypass to constant ground for the test. You CANNOT leave this wire connected to chassis ground.
Also, that vehicle has a second ignition wire(white) that MUST BE power up for remote start. If not, it will trigger the check engine light.

SOURCE: I have a remote starter

----- With this fix, you can take that whole Vats, passlock, passkey garbage system out of your car all together. I know it seems like a risk at 200 bucks, but seriously i had no happier day than when i finally got that thing out of my car. I'd been dealing with a "sometimes starting" car for a year. Trust me, this exactly what you need. They have a 100% money back guarantee+shipping, a support line, and pictured instructions,I couldnt be happier and i KNOW this will help ya. Took me about 45 minutes to locate the part in my car, and 10 minutes to install the bypass. LOL

Eliminate it, instead of using that resister as a bandaid

1998 gmc sonoma passlock not working

These bypass modules usually are a pretty simple installation. Some of these reasons that they fail to operate would include the ground when running connection and igniton signals. Try connecting the ground when running to chassis ground and then remote start the vehicle. If this is the issue, use a relay to provide a better signal for the ground when running. Do not leave this wire connected to chassis ground.

I have a 2002 chevy s10 trying to install a remote starter truck will start but cut out security light flashes on dash

This truck is equipped with what is called "passlock 2" it is a passive security system designed to cut the fuel if the vehicle is started without the key, ie. hot wiring, which in essence is how a remote start works. you can get a bypass module for a reasonable price, mine cost less than twenty dollars on amazon.com. be aware though, there is also a glitch that i am still frustrated with trying to figure out. there is a wire that starts a relay to turn the transmission "on" and if it doesn't get power when the pickup is started, it will send the transmission into default, causing it to shift very hard into drive, then lock in second once it gets past first. i am still trying to find this wire..... good luck

What is the passcode for the anti theft system

his vehicle has a the PASSLOCK II key
based engine disabling system.

You can attempt to put the key in the ignition,
turn it on to just before cranking and then leaving
it that way for 10 mins. After that,
some PASSLOCK systems will re learn the code
and allow for starting. But if not, the system
will either need to be seen by GM or, a bypass module
is required to circumvent.

If left unchecked, it will continue to lock down
the fuel injector rail, and you will need to tow
it in to GM for evaluation, and resetting anyway.

Bothersome, but can be fixed.

I suggest the PLJX bypass kit to get around
this issue. www.PASSLOCK2.com

This Passlock Bypass Module is designed to momentarilly
allow the engine to remote start by sending a proper
coded pulse to open the fuel rail passlock injector
cut off circuit.

The output from an alarm/remote starter
would then shut down the pulse, once it has detected
the engine has engaged, and preserve the integrity
of the passlock system.

That is it's designed purpose.

However, in your case, this input wire on the PLJX module,
instead of going to a momentary ground pulse from
an alarm/remote starter,
would go to a constant chassis ground, through
the bypass module, grounding out the PASSLOCK.
The PASSLOCK would then always be bypassed as long
as that wire is chassis grounded.

I can not speak about a damaged passlock system,
like if a thief has destroyed it, because I do not
get into this part of GM'S security application.
But as a happy coincidence to installing
after market remote starters, this does work on bypassing
passlock in most all GM vehicles we've run into,
including your year GM vehicle as well.

Also, this is a self learning, resistor sensing
and adjusting module. Once the VATS wires have been tapped,
you would press the program button to learn,
and it does. The car should then allow start
with any hardware store key.

It would on yours as well.

You might want a car alarm installer to do this
for you, the fair rate being around 50. to 75.
for labor.

Car starts then stalls I have installed a Pretige remote car starter on My 2005 Cadillac Escalade EXT. I have the bypass installed with the key in it. The truck starts then stalls. Any answers?

You have the wrong bypass. The bypass you are using is for universal transponders. You need the Passlock 2 bypass. The passlock is a resistance that is read from your ignition cylinder by the bcm that will allow your truck to start.

I just installed a remote starter on a 1997 chevy malibu along with express kit xko6 down loaded with version (FIMWARE) 3.0 it seems it is programed but my vehicle will not start if i turn the key to acc...

You installed this unit yourself, correct? You mentioned the bypass unit but not the remote starter unit. First, are all of the car's power wires connected...ignition(pink), 2nd ignition(green or white), accessory(orange)? There is a brown but it is radio accessory and not necessary for remote starter installation. Second, make sure that the ground for the XK06 is connected to the pass lock ground wire(black or orange with black) and not chassis ground. Next, check the ground when running(GWR, brown) from the XK06...make sure that it is connected to the remote starters ground when running. Now, it CANNOT be connected during programming, so make sure that you connected it AFTER you programmed the module. You didn't mention the remote starter unit but this wire is blue/white for Directed, light blue for Prestige and blue with black for some Code. Next, make sure that the ignition and starter wires of the XK06 are properly connected to the vehicle or remote starter's ignition and starter wires. You stated that the remote starter starts when you turn the key to accessory on...what about with just putting the key in the ignition(withoput turning the key)?

put your key in the ignition hole and remote start it, if it starts you need to reposition the key in the box or the loop around the igntion switch

2004 pontiac Grand Am with security passlock starting problems

Unfortunately you are correct, this
vehicle has the PASSLOCK II key
based engine disabling system, and currently it
is engaged. The sensor does not recognize &
retain the passlock reader chip in your ignition
switch any longer.

A bypass is required to circumvent.
If left unchecked, it will lock down the fuel injector
rail (as it has now), and you will need to
tow it in to GM for evaluation, and resetting.
Eventuall, the 10 minute over ride will cease to
work and you will finally be forced to visit
a Pontiac/GM dealer.

But, if you want to just remove this system
from the equation entirelly,
I suggest the PLJX bypass kit to get around
this issue.
