The screws which hold up the grill element will no longer fix into the roof of the oven. Can you recommend anything which can be used to fix this?

This is a Wall Oven isn't it? The top element is normally referred to as a Grill or Broil Element. With a wall oven, you have to pull the unit out and there should be an inspection cover on the top that you remove. There are some videos in this link for Samsung Ovens, they may help, but I haven't watched them.

This is a "never-happen" design compromise by Electrolux. The two small square holes in the roof allowed attaching screws to pass into threaded holes in a bar or bracket on top. You may have to improvise a solution using captive nuts or speed nuts and sheet metal screws.

I came across the same problem on a friend's stove/oven.
It turned out that the threaded plate, like a wide nut, had come loose inside the top space above the oven cavity.
Found the exploded schematic on the web, then we rocked the stove to confirm something was sliding around.
Rather than dismantling the entire stove to retrieve it, I used a 6mm stainless steel pop-rivet to re-attach the element bracket.

after isolating electric. remove oven from housing ( 2 or 4 screws) remove back of appliance to access retaining nuts .( disconnect wires noting terminal position). grill is fixed to roof of oven with screws remove these and take out grill. refit in reverse order remember to reconnect wires .

What you need to do is obtain 2 large self tapping screws,and resecure the element to the top that way, or failing that , fit 2 cavity wall screws, these will also do the job, but you may have to enlarge the holes.

Sounds like a faulty fan oven element. To replace: Disconnect from power (usually easiest to switch off at fuse box). Remove racks etc from inside oven. Remove rear panel inside oven- four screws. You will now see a heating element that goes around the fan- often you see blow mark on element. You need to remove the back panel of oven to access the nuts that hold element in- two nuts, undo nuts, remove wiring from element. New element available from any good appliance repair shop. Reverse procedure to refit. Happy fixing!!

screw at top of element is for support.. there are either 2 screws at the rear of element bracket holding it or access to behind the rear panel is required as there are 2 nuts holding the grill bracket to rear cavity. please make sure power has been disengaged before attemt to repair..

There are a couple of solutions to this prob,
You can get some plastic metal and build up the corroded area after cleaning it first, then you can drill a new fixing hole for screw.
The other thing you can do is to cut a small metal plate to fit over bad area, drill and fix it to oven liner, again drill a new fixing hole for element to be secured.

Possibly held with self tapping scerws, and hole has enlarged, all you will see are 2 small holes if this is the case, then use larger screws..
