That IS the correct answer.

0.2^12 = 0.000000004096

In order to get this number to fit onto the screen the calculator switches to scientific notation, showing the number as 4.096 times ten to the minus 9.

Try opening the software on your PC. Set the connection to USB and connect your calc. On the calc press the right shift key followed by the right arrow key.....software should now recognize the calc.

SOURCE: HP 12c cALCULATOR

It is not calculating because your decimal point and the digit separator (that's the comma which automatically displays for every group of 3 digits) got messed up. To clear, turn the calculator OFF, then press and hold down the dot (that is the decimal point symbol) key while you press the ON key..

SOURCE: TI-83 Plus calculators won't turn on despite the many attemps...

Hello,

It is possible that the contrast is too light as to make the cursor invisible.
In that case you can increase the contrast as follows:

1. Press [2nd] key , then release it.
2 Press [up arrow] key ,then release it.

Repeat the two steps until you get the right contrast.

To decrease the contrast, you press the [down arrow] key instead of the [up arrow] key.

Hope it clears the obscurity.

Hope that

SOURCE: Hi i have a problem

101.26 is what you'd get for 5% APR compounded monthly for three months. 115.76 is what you'd get for 5% APR compounded yearly for three years. Make sure that the compounding interval and the interest rate are consistent.

You can use the I/YR key on the top row to enter/calculate the interest rate.

We can't tell whether your numbers are correct or not without seeing them. Could you post the problem?

Some keys not working

It appears your calculator is working perfectly well in octal. You should see a display indicator reading "OCT".

To switch to decimal, press 2ndF [-DEC] (-DEC is on the "+" key).

My calculator keeps giving a particular error. I know that it shouldn't give this error. So eg, I do 0.95/99.05 = 9.59111.5598x10-3. It should be 0.0095. Can you please tell me how to correct this? I...

The error is in the eyes of the beholder. In scientific notation your value of 0.0095 is written as 9.5*10^(-3). Actually the calculator showed you more digits than you were asking for and its answer is more precise that yours. When you choose the Input/Output of the calculator to be LineIO, it will show the results as decimals. Howvever if the number to be displayed is too small or too large, the calculator will use the scientific notation.

To do exact calculations (whenever possible) set the Input/Output mode to MathIO. The result will be a fraction (19/1981). After that you can press the [S-D] button to convert that exact result to its decimal representation.
If you do not mind my advice, I suggest you learn how to interpret scientific notation, and familiarize yourself with the capabilities of this new type of calculators.

To configure the calculator for MathIO, press [SHIFT][MODE] to open the (SetUp), then select [1:MathIO]. In this mode, you will be able to see the expressions you type in as they would appear in a textbook:Fractions will appear as fractions, you will see radicals, etc. You can do a string of calculations in MathIO and convert only the last result to its decimal representation.

I when i power -3 to the second i get -9 when it should be just 9

No, is giving you the correct result. When you negate 3-squared, you should get -9. If you want to square negative three, you need to type it in as ( (-) 3 ) ^ 2 or ( (-) 3 ) x^2

There is a difference between (-3)^2 and -(3^2). If you omit the parentheses, the calculator will interpret it as the latter.

If in doubt, use parentheses.

Casio-fx300 ES if i enter 2.5+2 it answers as a fraction of 9/2 how do i reset this to calculate correctly

There is a misconception that fraction are less correct than decimal result. Quite the contrary. Calculations with fractions and/or with radicals are exact while decimal calculations are approximate.
Anyway, you want decimals and so decimals you will have.
When a result is displayed in fraction or radical (root form), just press the [SD] key and it will give you the so desired decimal representation.
If somehow you cannot stand the sight of a fraction or a radical, just tell your calculator so.
Press [SHIFT] [MODE] to open (SetUp) screen and press [2:LineIO]

I'm trying to find the fraction button on my texas instrument ti 83 plus calculator and cannot find it

There is no "fraction" button on the TI-83 plus. You will have to press the divide key (2 buttons below the CLEAR key) and then use the parentheses (immediately to the left of the divide key) to tell the calculator the correct order of operations. For example, "1/3x+9" means ".333333x+9", but "1/(3x)+9" means the "x" goes on the bottom of the fraction.

I have to use eng mode. When I type (54.2*10ee-3)*(37*10ee9) I get 2.0054ee11. My teacher says that I should have 2.0054ee3. Does my calculator is broken?

No! Your calculator is not broken. However you are not using the EE button correctly, or you are not aware of its meaning.
The EE key is a shortcut for 10 to a power and the 10 is already included.

Here is an example.To enter the [EE] you use [SHIF][,] where the comma [,] is the key between [SIN] and [7] in the column under [MODE]. To enter a negative exponent you use the change sign key (-), the one at the bottom of keypad below 3 and to the right of the decimal mark [.]
To enter 54.2 x10^(-3) you type in 54.2[,] [(-)]3
To enter 37x10^(9) you type in 37[SHIFT] [,]]9

The correct result is 2.0054x10^9 and your calculator will show you 2.0054E9

However by typing in 54.2*10[EE]-3 your are in fact entering 54.2x10x10^(-3) and by typing 37*10[EE]9 you are entering 37*10*10^9 and your final result is in fact multiplied by 100, hence the value you are getting 2.0054E11

I cant get the screen to go away from f(x)= and i want the answer to be converted to a decimal answer instead of in fraction form

I believe your calculator is set up to do TABLE computations. In these computations you enter the function for which you want a table generated.
Press [SHIFT][9] to clear/reset the calculator. You should find a CLR marking on calculator near the 9 key.

You can also press [MODE] button and select [COMP], which is the general computational mode.

To have the calculator display all results in decimal format
Press [SHIFT][MODE] to enter (SETUP) and select [2:LineIO]

Dont know how to add or subtract on it

Hello,
On most calculators you enter operations as you would write then on a line (a single line). This is called algebraic notation.
Say, you wante to calculate 2 +3=?
You turn your calculator on
You clear the screen if is cluttered. (there is a button for that sometines labeled A/C or AC, which stand for Clear All.

You Press the key for number 2 then the key for the plus sign, then the key for 3. You get the result after you press = or ENTER or EXE on Casio calculators. Once you do, that the screen displays 5, the summ of 2 and 3.
Tu summarize (The content of each bracket [] is a key you press.
[2][+][3]= ----> 5 Addition: 2+3=5
[3][x][9]= ----> 27 Multiplication 3 times 9 equals 27
[1][8][/][2]= --->9 Division 18 divided by 2 equals 9
[3][3][-][9]= ---> 24

Hope you will enjoy using your calculator

Will not do simple math

Yeah, this calculator is kind of odd in that the keys to the left of the numbers ([Ă·], [Ă—] and [=]) work more like standard calculators, but the keys to the right ([-] and [+]) work more like they're RPN (more common on HP calculators). To calculate 1000-490, type "[CE/C] 1000 [+] 490 [-]". What happens is this: after clearing then entering 1000, the [+]adds it to the last result (in this case 0), giving us 1000. This number is saved when you enter 490, and pressing [-] subtracts it from the last result (1000), giving you 510.
