Fan is loud and it sounds as if the motor is reving up
Could be above or like with my newish Hotpoint (now out of warranty) ice stuck at top of fan unit in freezer section which is then vibrating (sounds like broken gears or worn out bushes)as it keeps bouncing off the fan blades. I simply remove the plastic panel and fan unit mounted into this and then tip plastic cover up and ice falls out of top opening above the fan, after replacing it is then dead quiet and has happened twice now 1st time engineer did this and i watched him so now know what to do to fix it. It's really a design fault as they should have put a mesh grill above fan to stop falling ice then getting trapped and hitting against the fan.

it is most likely the fan bushings that are making the noise. you can try to lube them with a light oil if you want to buy some time. but the fan motor will need to be replaced soon.

ok first i want you to pull your Refrigerator and look for a part of a loaf of bread or something else that has got inyour fan. hope this helps. if you don't find anything you may have a bad bearing on one of your fans. there are to fans one under the rear, and one inside the Refrigerator that you here when the door opens and closes pay close attn: to both!
good luck sawdust46

only if the fan noise is driving you crazy. the noise is probaly the motor starting to go out. you can replace it. it might save you money in the long run to replace it, if it goes out you could run into bad food in your fridge.

it;s best to replace the fan / or find why the noise . it will probably stop due to this problem. and you may loose food . noises generaly are the first clues . and like i'v said before . if you can hear it it's running . but if your cant it may have quit . . then not cool and food loss . **** / hope this helped mm / feed back pls .

Hello,
The motor for this model gets its power supplied by the main board. This board has gone bad. If this is your model (PSS26MSRSS). Than the part number you need is WR55X10942.
It can be located about 2 feet from the floor behind a metal plate with 3 1/4 inch screws in it.
I also attached the installation instructions. In step 2 its mentioned that if your serial ends with ??? cut a wire. I do not recommend you cut the wire if you have one of those serials. There is a lock that holds that wire into the connector. Unlock it, Pull it out and tape it up.
If you have questions please ask Ignore the handwritten notes
Thanks.
