Hit the SCAN button second from the left on the scanner; if you installed the driver (updated, etc.) correctly it will scan into a program set in its preferences using its TWAIN driver.  If you want different behavior than you can get from the TWAIN driver, get in there with your favorite programming environment and make the button do what you hope....

Can i scan slides with my Canon PIXMA MP150

No. This feature requires a light source to shine light through a slide to the lens so the image can be copied. Your Canon all in one doesn't have a transparency top that shines light through a slide. I had to get an Epson Perfectin scanner with transparency top to copy my slides. Hope this helps.

Scan in word 2007 documents using vista

From Word 2007 Help:

The From Scanner or Camera option for scanning documents and pictures is not available in Microsoft Office Word 2007. Instead, you can use your scanner to scan the document, and then you can save the file to your computer.
After you scan the document, you can use Microsoft Office Document Imaging to create a version of the document that you can edit.
Important The first step is to install Microsoft Office Document Imaging, which is not installed by default.
