Turn the modem and router off. Turn the modem on and let it cycle up for about a minute or two, then plug the router in and let it cycle up.

If you turn the system off at night or if a power outage in the house occurs then when things are turned back on both the modem and router starts cycling up. If the router finishes cycling up before the modem, you will have connection problems.

WHAT LIGHTS ON LINKSYS ARE SUPPOSED TO BE BLINKING

Note that incoming traffic will cause the WAN (or Internet) light to blink even if it is 'probe' traffic trying to break in to your network. Such traffic is to be expected and is the reason you have firewall functionality in your gateway router.

On the inside, there is a bit of traffic on any LAN when the computers are turned on. Messages generated by the router itself are used to find computers and printers for a lot of different legitimate reasons.

My d-link router name no longer appears in my wireless networks list - I can not find it to connect to the internet wirelessly

Hi, this seems to be either an issue with your router's hardware or local computer wireless adapter hardware. In order to determine which one is it do the following:

1. Go and check the LEDs on your wireless router to see if there are any blinking or switched off as stated in the official manual documentation for DLink products (can be found here or here more specific).
LEDS are as follows (left to right - per official user manual/doc):
- Power LED = A solid light indicates a proper connection to the power supply. cdekatrr_0.png
- Internet LED = A solid light indicates a proper connection to the Internet port. This LED blinks during data transmission. cdekatrr_1.png
- WLAN LED = A solid light indicates that the wireless segment is ready. The LED blinks during wireless data transmission. cdekatrr_2.png
- Local Network LEDs = A solid light indicates a connection to an Ethernet-enabled computer on ports 1-4. This LED blinks during data transmission. cdekatrr_3.png

2. Check the laptop's or desktop wireless adapter if it is disabled or enabled and if is disabled enable it by going to your computer's Control Panel (either winxp or vista/win7) and go to network connections (in vista/win7 put the control panel in detailed view to see more options) and then right click on your wireless connection and click enable.

3. In a case that also the wireless adapter is enabled but you still cannot see any access points/wireless networks please go to your current wireless connection and right click go "Diagnose", this feature is mainly available in windows 7 or Vista. For windows XP, go to the command prompt by going to Start->Run->type in the box "cmd" without the quotes->Then type in the following set of commands.
ipconfig /release ---> This will refresh your wireless card IP settings/configuration to 0.
and after that command finishes, type in:
ipconfig /renew --> This will get new settings if the wireless card has problems finding an address from your router.

You can always reset your router (unplug from power supply, wait 2minutes then plug it back in)
or:
Reset the wireless adapter (right click from on the wireless adapter shown in the network connections, disable and then re-enable it) or computer.

Thanks please let me know if you need anything else.

No wireless connection for laptop. Linksys router - model #wrt160n v2

you can run a direct line to that router and go to the cisco web site and get the information you need to run that router. its a pdf format and is 2.56 Meg. Try this

SecureEasySetup (Orange/White) The Cisco logo is the Router's SecureEasySetup button. It

lights up and will stay orange when the Router is powered on. The color orange indicates that

the Router is not using the SecureEasySetup feature, while the color white indicates that the

Router is using the SecureEasySetup feature. When the Router enters SecureEasySetup

mode, the Cisco logo will turn white and start flashing. After the Router has generated

the SSID and WPA Personal key, the Cisco logo will stop flashing and stay white.

To clear the SSID and WPA Personal key, press and hold down the Cisco logo for five seconds.

The Cisco logo will flash slowly as the Router resets itself. The Cisco logo will turn orange to

indicate a successful reset.NOTE: SecureEasySetup is a feature that makes

it easy to set up your wireless network. If you have SecureEasySetup devices, run the Router's

Setup Wizard CD-ROM and follow the onscreen instructions to use SecureEasySetup.

Power (Green) The Power LED lights up and will stay on while the Router is powered

on. When the Router goes through its selfdiagnostic mode during every boot-up, this

LED will flash. When the diagnostic is complete, the LED will be solidly lit.

DMZ (Green) The DMZ LED indicates when the DMZ function is being used. This LED will

remain lit as long as DMZ is enabled. WLAN (Green) The WLAN LED lights up when

the wireless feature is enabled. If the LED is flashing, the Router is actively sending or

receiving data over the network. 1, 2, 3, 4 (Green) These numbered LEDs, corresponding with the numbered ports on the Router's back panel, serve two purposes. If the LED is continuously lit, the Router is successfully connected to a device through that port. A flashing LED indicates network activity over that port.

Internet (Green) The Internet LED lights up when there is a connection made through the

Internet port. A flashing LED indicates network activity over the Internet port.

Good luck
