Your WD has probably gone belly up. If you can't get it to register on either computer and you've tried different computers then it has croaked.
Were you able to use it in the past on the windows computer and the mac? If so, that's strange because they are two different formats and most times when you plug the drive into one or the other it will want to reformat it to be able to access it.

Hi,
don't panic your hard drive might still be working . you say it dose not sign showing it's on. please have any cable that connect the hard disk to the computer checked. I think your cables might be bad.

Connect it to your computer.
Right click on my computer and select Manage
On the left side click on Disk management.
Now on the right side, look around and see if you spot the external drive there.
What do you see there?
Also look into device manager, then look for anything with ! or ? yellow marks.

Does the external drive work when connected to some _other_ computer? (Friend? Office? Home?)
It could be a failure either in the "hardware" inside the external-case (the USB adapter & interface)
or in the disk-drive "inside" the external-case.
So, a qualified technician can open the external drive, remove the disk-drive, and connect it directly to a computer, to see if the files can be "directly" read from the disk-drive.
If not, then you should search online for a "data recovery" service -- they are expensive, but they physically repair a damaged disk-drive, just long-enough to copy your data to another disk-drive.

Hi, Take the drive to a pc store and ask the techs to move the HDD into a new shell and test it for you. Most likely it's ok and you can just buy a new shell/enclosure for it. If that doesn't work it may need the help of a recovery pro. If that's the case comment back here with your country/state/city and I'll pass on a recommendation for a nearby facility that can assist you in retrieving the files. Chris
