Need a WIA driver

Trying to use VueScan and it is asking for a WIA driver

  • Anonymous May 13, 2012

Had already tried these drivers on my Win 7 64 machine with no luck. Paid $40 for VueScan software to get my Nikon Supercool5000 ED going and it brought me epson and old Brother MFC back to life without having to run in the XP simulator. Thanks for the advice.

My veho keeps telling me it can not find camera, I am using the scanner why>

Which version of Windows 10 do you have? The first few editions could use unsigned drivers from older versions of Windows. The last few versions of Windows 10 require signed 64-bit OS drivers which are not offered for most older hardware. Check your model and see which version of the drivers are available here: https://veho-world.com/downloads/ . (The downloads are compressed archives.)

An extra problem with these newer versions of Windows 10 is that they don't support TWAIN scanners any more. A WIA driver has to be available. There is a work-around software for some scanners at https://www.hamrick.com/ . The program is VueScan and it essentially translates TWAIN to WIA and back between the OS and the scanner. However, the list of supported scanners does not include Veho: https://www.hamrick.com/vuescan/supported-scanners.html . Also the program is limited to text documents with a watermark unless you pay for the software.

I wish I had better news for you.

(I have an older scanner (TWAIN) and have used the VueScan software successfully. The scanner belonged to a relative who replaced it after a USB cable issue. They'd been considering an upgrade anyway to begin digitizing family photos from slides.)

Is there a wia driver for Windows 7 for the Kodak i65 Scanner?

Well I too HAD this problem. Upgraded to Win7 64 bit and was unable to install the existing 32 bit drivers (of course) that operate in WinXP and Vista. Called Kodak and there wonderful answer was Buy a New Scanner.

Well this was just not an option. SO I searched and searched for alternatives, to creating a WinXP Virtual machine with VMPlayer or VirtualBox to remote controlling an older WinXP laptop connected to the scanner. None were solutions I felt I could live with.

Then I found VueScan at www.hamrick.com. A small chea scanning software that you can try before you buy. I read through everything on the site including the specific scanner notes for the Kodak I65, then downloaded the trial version.

Once installed you follow the instructions from the site to use VueScans own driver to run the Kodak scanner and lo and behold I got my ORIGINAL Kodak scanner menu to work on Win7 64bit. Then I used the VueScan software to scan a document and it worked like a charm. Albeit with the VueScan watermark.

Now I could have stopped there and called it a success, but I then, tried scanning with my Nitro PDF Pro software and was amazed to get a Perfect scan without the watermark.

Now NOTE, I did not buy the VueScan software at this time, as I don't need it's ability. I just used their driver and driver installation instructions from the website specifically for the Kodak I65. Most likely going to buy the basic version of the software anyway, as I think the guy deserves something for saving my EXPENSIVE I65 from becoming a paperweight.

An Elegant and Complete solution to Kodak's total support failure!

Dimage Scan Dual IV is it compatable with Windows 7 32 bit?

Right now, the Konica-Minolta site lists the scanner as discontinued and has no drivers for Windows versions later than XP. The Microsoft Compatibility site lists it as "Information Coming Soon" You can try the generic driver that Windows will try to install (check if you need TWAIN or WIA drivers) or download the current driver and try installing it with XP SP3 compatability mode (right click on the file, select Properties, then the compatability tab.

If those fail, there is another option in Win7 Pro or Ultimate. Download and install the XP mode from Microsoft (2 downloads/installs). Then install the scanner inside the virtual computer running XP that results. You may need to save images to external media to share them between the two computers.

I hope this helps.

CanoScan Vs. Windows Vista

Tom, your solution is incorrect. I have just got my Canoscan working fine with Vista, simply using Canon's official XP drivers and unpacking them in XP compatibility mode. Is working fine with just a bit of experimentation. (You need the Canon toolbox software too, all of which is available from canon.com)
