SOURCE: I have a panasonic Toughbook CF-29 printing with keyboard

Well I have had this at the shop a few times, it seems you keyboard/ decoder is screwy, How to tell is plug in a USB keyboard... now when it installs, reboot, now next time at desktop, open word processor, type on the USB key board, see what happens, IF it does it OK, then the Key Board, Key Board Controller is faulty, IF it does the same, then you have a bad install of your software,, try another Word Process and see.If OK in another one, then reinstall the other if still no good, you may have a virus or a bad install... Probably best to do a repair install of your system. Or if it was OK a while back, a System Restore to a time before that.

SOURCE: How do I replace the motherboard on a Panasonic CF-29

If you are putting the same board in, it should be easy (see below). If you are putting a different board in, you will have to read the manual to make sure you have the correct connections.

- Remove power cable and all connections on back computer.
- Open computer and lay on side with MB on bottom and opened panel facing up.
- Remove any cards by removing the secruing screw on it. Label which slot you take them out so you can place back in the same way.
- Remove memory cards drawing a diagram where it/they came out. If there are more than one card and different, note which slot they came out of. Configuration is important in most systems.
- Remove cables going to hard drives, floppy drives, or optical drives. Leave the cable attached to each device but lable where it came off your MB.
- Remove fan assembly on CPU if it is in the way and unplug it noting where it was plugged in.
- Remove from 4 to 9 screws holding the board down and lift board out by pulling forward on the board so it removes itself from the back panel and then lift out.
- Swap the CPU over to the new board being careful not to touch the pins of the CPU to cause ESD damage. (Google it if you need to know what it is). You might want to put some more heat transfer gel on it to make sure the CPU cools properly. A lot of times that stuff dries up and won't cool your CPU properly.
- Install board reversing the steps above making sure the grounding prongs of back panel are not over the openings to the connectors.

Note, memory cards are usually keyed so you should not be able to put them in backwards but make sure you put them in the same slots.

- Try your 'smoke' test. If unit powers up and you have video, your on the home stretch. Check out your bios and ensure you have the latest by going to the manufacturer's website and looking up bios downloads and compare what you have to the latest bios. (This is only if you want to make sure your system it updated to the latest and greatest. Most people will not mess with it if it still works. Maybe that's good logic.) There should be directions there as to how to update your bios. Follow their instructions.

If all went well, you should be good to go. If you have a different MB, you will have to look up your connections at the manufacturer's site. The above steps should get you through the changeout process.

SOURCE: How can I change the RAM of panasonic toughbook cf

Under the unit, there is only one door : unscrew the 4 screws, and take it apart : the RAM seats underneath ; if the door stays stuck (due to the rubber seal gone old), gently inset a credit card between the enclosure and the door to loosen them.

Touch screen doesnt work on my cf-29

Your Model CF29NWQGZBM the letter "W" indicates that this is a T/S (TouchScreen) Model.

Please verify that the "TouchScreen" is "Enabled" under the BIOS. I recently purchased about a dozen CF29's where there were absolutely NO scratches on the LCD. The reason WHY was because the TouchScreen had been DISABLED at the BIOS level.

I can also share with you another experience I had recently. I purchased approx. 15x CF29 models and every single unit had a defective TouchScreen. When I called Panasonic Canada I was told that since the units were no longer under the three year manufacturer warranty there was nothing they could do about it but that they were aware of this defect and it was a known defect.

I hope this information helps.

Regards from an authorized Panasonic Toughbook Dealer located in Montreal.

Is a digital flat panel monitor a touch screen

No, for a screen to be touchscreen it must have a digitizer on it. By the sounds of your description it is just a standard flat panel screen

Touch screen dose not work on my CF-30

If your Toughbook has an integrated GPS, this may be conflicting with the touchpad or touchscreen driver. You can fix this by running the GPS Registry Patch - SKIPENUM.REG, which is found in the C:\UTIL\GPS\ folder. This file can also be found by following the link below.

If you are using a GPS module that is not integrated, you should contact the manufacturer of the GPS module for a similar patch.

If you are not using a GPS module, or if the above steps do not fix your problem, re-install the touchpad and/or touchscreen drivers.

Cf 29 touchscreen

The connection to the board should be under the panel with the speakers, at the top of the keyboard. (that's where it is on my cf72) Also check the connection on the touch screen by pulling the front case from around the screen. There are screws hidden under the small rubber bumpers on the lid.
