Hit "FN" and the "NUM Lock" key together to unlock it.

I believe thats the combination.

Let me know.

On the Panasonic Toughbook CF-51 there is a key located on the top right next to the F12 function key called "NumLk" or Num Lock.
Press this key once and the embedded numeric keypad is enabled.
Press it a second time and it is disabled.
How do you know if it is enabled or disabled?
Simple: Observe the LED above the keyboard. If the second light with the square symbol and the number "1" is lit up, then the NumLock is enabled. If that LED is not lit up it is disabled.

Good Luck.

This method may help;
1) Locate and remove the RTC battery
2) locate and remove the main battery and unplug power supply.
3) depress the power button for 30-60 seconds.
you do not have to solder anything to the board if there are posts ic 61,63 on MAIN PCB then just put a jumper across them while you power up. if its just 2 SMD pads just use a needle probe to arc the connection.

go to www.panasonic.com and then support, then look for manual download. type in the model, then it should give you the manual. if for some reason they do not have it, then just google the model number with manual after the model and you should be able to find it there. hope this helps.. Ron

Sue, it's not the inverter board. People who don't really know much about laptops will often diagnose them incorrectly, especially computer repair shops. The problem you're experiencing is most likely related to your motherboard. Unfortunately the most expensive part to replace on most laptops.

Your best bet is to probably just have any important files from the laptop extracted by a repair shop and then selling the computer "As-IS" on ebay. Or you could try another local repair shop to take a look at it. I wouldn't pay any money for a diagnostics since it would take most techs about 5-10 minutes to confirm what I just typed.

I wouldn't suggest buying such recovery CDs from 3rd parties when you have the option to get it from Original manufacturer. Buying it from a third party will not guarantee desired results and you may lose a lot of money. You can get it through the official Panasonic website. Here's the link:

Open the PCMCIA flap on the left hand side of the keyboard and it is on the bottom right, just below the card slot.
