SOURCE: HP 6940 Deskjet driver not installing WINDOWS 7

hi,the reason why it most probaly comes with that error is that the driver is not meant for windows 7,so go on line check hp site, printer drivers and download.

If you are using a 32 bit version of Windows 7 you can add a driver using the following: go to the Devices and Printers folder, Add a printer, Local printer, LPT1: (or which ever parallel port the printer is connected to), select the Deskjet 720c driver. You may need to click on the Windows Update button if the driver does not show up initially in the list.

If you are using a 64 bit version of Windows 7 there is not a solution at this point, the supplied drivers have an issue.

Find another computer (laptop?) that is running Windows XP or Vista. Install the HP device-drivers.
Connect the printer to that other computer, and use the software to display the ink-levels.

Can no longer check my ink level.

Sometimes Windows 7 drivers need to be downloaded from the HP support site. Also, make sure you have installed the application on the CD that came with the printer in addition to the printer drivers. That is what you would have run under Programs before. If your Windows 7 computer was not used to manage the printer before, you will need to install the HP management tool on it in order to see ink levels.

My printer is a HP Deskjet 3820. But since I couldn't find the driver for it I set it up as a 970cse (Windows troubleshooting recommended me to do this). But whenever I print the pages just come out blank....

The first thing is to download the correct driver for your printer at
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?product=75045&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&lang=en&cc=us&submit=Go%20?»
Also, you can download the HP utility that will give you the ink status and troubleshooting tips.
Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks.

I have a new computer with Windows 7. My HP

Try installing the following drivers from HP follow the link. Before doing so remove the drivers your currently using for your printer.

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?lang=en&cc=ca&taskId=115&prodSeriesId=295930&prodTypeId=18972&prodSeriesId=295930&objectID=c01796821

I know windows 7 has been giving people a lot of problems with older printers. Try reloading and see if it will resolve your printing issues. If not let me know and I will give you a few other suggestions. I will also consult our HP specialist who we have on staff. You may need to have a firmware update, but I will verify with him.
