Internet explorer won't open

What u use to connect? A router?

i would go into internet options in explorer and go to connections, then lan settings.verify that auto detect settings is checked, then click ok. restart pc and try ie.

my recommendations is install a new firefox 3.........try this

If the browser shows working offline and wireless is connected fine then it could be an issue where work offline is checked in the browser.
In internet explorer 6 its found on File in the menu, if work offline is already checked, check it again to remove the check mark and then try, if its internet explorer 7 its found on tools, the same steps and in firefox under file,
Also try this step as well, if its internet explorer go to tools-internet options-and in internet options-go to connections tab-there is dial up and networking box-remove the dial up connections from the box-and check the one never dial a connection

also check the firewalls and antivirus programs, post your results.

1.uninstall the driver
2.restart computer..
3.in the windows..run the cd driver of WUSB54GSC and install...next..next...after that..restart computer...
4.in the windows..insert your linksys usb wireless device...and start using your wireless..

look in your manual, turn off your internal modem, wifi. and then plug in your new adapter. restart and see how that works. if not then best buy has a great tec department

Could be a vista compatibility problem.
check Linksys website for updated driver and or connection manager.

check that you still have permission in firewall.

remove the software of the usb wireless adapter,reboot ,then re install.

To check this, open Internet Explorer then go to Tools > Internet Options > Connections and make sure "Never Dial a Connection" is selected. Then go to File and make sure "Work Offline" is unchecked.

Just to make sure im understanding the situation properly - you have a laptop and connect to the internet through a wireless network right? And then when you go to open up internet explorer or whatever program you use it basically says you're not connected to the internet.

It does sound like your wireless card has gone bad but when you say that it still has the icon down the bottom of the screen telling you that you're connected to the network, it sounds like it could be something else. It could be a range of things from there though, there are some viruses that corrupt something called the LSP and when that is broken it has the same symptoms as you described. Also it could just be a setting in your anti-virus. I know that Kaspersky Internet Security suite has a problem with its anti-hacker function that blocks internet from working like that.

Try disabling all of your anti-virus / firewall programs and then accessing the internet. If that works then its only a small problem. If it doesnt work and the icon is still there saying you are connected to the wireless then there is a small program to try running called LSP Fix, available at:

Other than that i'm out of ideas. Changing the wireless network card in a laptop does sound challenging though.

Hi, your message is kinda garbled up lol. But if your Laptop is getting connected and has like 2 bars + in signal and it says you are connected it could be a few things the WEP security code you used could be wrong or you didnt put it in capitals & lowercase, as if its not exact will say connected but not let you browse, other thing it could be you need to go into internet explorer you will get page not displayed, press tools, internet options under security you need to click each picture then press default level and do it for each one then click apply then ok. then give it a try..
