Hi - I have a 3-4 year old Canon Pixma IP4500. The initial problem was blurring in places on black text. Nozzle check showed that bottom half of PGBK grid was missing horizontal lines. Took out the print head and soaked and ran it under the tap. Dried off with hairdryer and replaced. Did test print - which was really good (although horizontal lines still missing) then it stopped printing anything. Took print head out and cleaned it again by soaking in methelated spirits, but still doesn't work. When I ask it to print, the print head moves and it sounds just as if it is printing, but no ink gets onto the page. Any ideas - or is it time to retire it?

Hello,
one idea is that you rouined printhead with tap water and second idea is to buy new print head or printer.
Note: If you want to replace ink head, be sure to replace purge unit and ink absorber also.

Why is my Canon Pixma 4820 suddenly leaving lighter lines through color pictures.

Worn print head. And for what they charge for a stinking print head you can get a new printer for less with a warranty to boot!

My Pixma iP4500 is leaving faint lines on my prints particularly noticeable on areas of even tone like blue skies. I've done the deep clean and nozzle check but can't fix the problem.

Having same problems. Have done all the checks and cleaning etc. Rang Canon. Requires a new part that costs as much as the printer did initially! The printer is so new that I haven't even changed some of the cartridges yet, and others only twice. Old enough to be just out of warranty. Seems to be the best solution is to dump the printer and take my photos to a retail outlet to be printed. Won't be purchasing a printer from Canon again, that's for sure! What a massive rip off!

When refilling canon ip4500 cartridge they still show empty

I'm sorry you got that STUPID answer first. The Canon cartridges you use have a chip or small circuit board on the bottom front. You have to either reset that chip or get the reset chips from the place you get your ink. That little chip tells your printer how much ink has been used and once they are empty refilling doesn't help without a new or reset chip.

Canon iP4500 not printing yellow

take the print head with all the cartridges still installed out of the printer. take a soft microfiber cloth and gently wipe the exposed surface on the bottom of the printhead. You should get some ink to wipe off the printhead.. reinstall and retry your printing.

Canon printing in streaks

first check the nozzle (bottom of cartridge). if u dont see black spots around the nozzle line (many nozzle that form straight line, black long straight line, color, 3 short line), or a view of burnt, u can continue below.

blow the air hole till it drop the ink. then clean it with water. but note, dont wipe the nozzle, let them wet. u must wipe the contact with dry tissue before inserting it back.

otherwise, u must replace ur cartridge :D

Hi,

I had a similar problem. Pages in blue, but nozzle check in black. Tried what you tried. Changed the ink ($). Still no change. Then tried the maintenance option to clean the bottom plate. And now it is working. Go figure.
