The Solution:
1. Firstly unplug the decks!!!
2. Remove the slipmatts and platter
3. Unscrew the circular plastic cover (Note: 5 screws holding it down)
4. Upon removing this circular plastic cover you will see a clear piece of plastic covering a circuit board, open it up. Now you will see a two fuses one clear and one stripey. 5. Remove the fuses (Gently poke it out with a pen/screwdriver or whatever) and examine it and see if either or both have infact blown.
6. Bring the suspect fuse/s to any electric/hardware/music type store (or search the net) and try to get a replacment but make sure its the same as the fuse you removed!!!. A T250 mA fuse(clear) an a T1A Fuse (stripey) are stated in the Technics user manual.
7. Now get the new fuse and gently snap it back in to the silver holders.
8. Replace the clear plastic circuit board cover.
9. Screw back the the circular plastic cover (Note: 5 screws holding it down)
10. Replace the Platter and slipmats
11. Turn them on and spin awayInternal fuse - smile.gif

The fuses are located underneath the turntable platter. Unplug, remove platter, then remove black plastic cover. You'll see the fuses on the smaller PC board on the left side.

The Problem:
I bought a pair of Technics 1210 m3d turntables from America and did the same thing, they were set to 110v(american) as opposed to 220v(Europe). In my case when I turned them on(without changing the voltage setting) the light on the deck flicked on for a second and then the two decks completely died. I had simply blown the two internal fuses in the two decks.

Now you will see a clear fuse (Not the stripey one!)
5. Remove this fuse (Gently poke it out with a pen/screwdriver or whatever) and examine it and see if it has infact blown.
6. Bring this fuse to any electric/hardware/music type store (or search the net) and try to get a replacment but make sure its the same as the fuse you removed!!!. A T250 mA fuse was stated in the manual.
7. Now get the new fuse and gently snap it back in to the silver holders.
8. Replace the clear plastic circuit board cover.
9. Screw back the the circular plastic cover (Note: 5 screws holding it down)
10. CHANGE THE VOLTAGE SETTING TO 220V(EUROPEAN)!!!11. Replace the Platter and slipmats
12. Turn them on and spin awayInternal fuse - smile.gif

Technics SL-1200MK5 voltage or fuse problem

To change it from the 110 to 220 the switch is under the turntable platter. Put your fingers in the 2 holes under the slip matts and pull up evenly. It may be a little hard but it will come off. As for the fuse...its inside the deck. Unscrew the feet and all the screws. the black rubber part will come off. Good luck!

I have a Denon DP-DJ151 and the power won't turn on. Is there a fuse with these turntables that might be blown?

ive not worked on a denon deck but there will be internal fuses.on techknics you remove the platter then remove the caseing to uncover the board and the fuses will be on there, make sure to use the right ones though as they protect main board gd luck

No lights or responce (power issue)

If you do not see fuses on the smaller pc board, next to the main PC board, underneath the turntable platter, then you don't have any. Not all 1200s series turntables have these fuses. So, that means you more than likely blew the Technics power supply / transformer.

Not an easy fix, and I don't recommend you do this, as seeing how you did not replace the pop-up light correctly, it seems you lack the experience. When you saw that spark, that means that you did not shield the pop-up light wires properly, a big mistake. It more than likely touched the cabinet, and created a short - very common. This short is enough to take out he power supply.

You will have to take your unit to an authorized repair center for repair.

Good Luck!

Control panel seems to be responsive, internal

Make sure the glass platter is correctly seated on the plastic drive. Now gently press down on the platter and see if it resists turning. If the platter turned easily, the plastic drive is spinning on the motor shaft and needs replaced. If the platter resists movement, the motor under the floor needs to be replaced. High-pitched, repetitive squeaking noise from under platter on 1210MK2

Make sure there is nothing on the magnet part of the platter. Also, sometimes, the screws that hold down the plastic protective cover underneath the platter might not be seated all the way. Lastly, look at the bottom of the magnet, and make sure that it is in tact, and nothing is bent, broken, or cracked.

Other than that, try switching out the platters from your other turntable, and see if the problem persists. You need to rule out what it is not, before you can proceed with finding out what is the problem. So if the noise moves to the other turntable, you know the issue is with the platter. If the noise remains on the same turntable, then you can rule out the platter being the culprit, and can isolate the issue to the turntable. I've never heard of this, and I've fixed well over 3000 Technics 1200MK2/MK3/MK5 turntables in the past 10 years. I am also considered THE 1200s MASTER. So, I am not sure what could be causing this noise, other than some foreign matter. If your in the NY metro area, bring it on by, and I'll take a look at it, or give us a call, and I'll try and refer someone locally for you:

No lights or responce (power issue)

There are two internal fuses that you can check, their positions and values are determined by which country the unit was sold in. You can get a copy of the service manual on the link below: http://www.backspin.org/sl1200mk2.pdf Make sure it's unplugged & the tonearm is secure before going inside!! I have indicated the position of the fuse in the attached picture. Please update the question & let us know if the information given was useful to you - Good Luck!

Turntables

Your power transformer blew. The fuses in these models don't offer much protection, when it comes to more serious power surges. And the only other thing that would be blown is the transformer - a common issue. You can purchase parts for this model HERE, however, I do not suggest replacing this part yourself, as it is a little tricky, and you may damage your unit ever more, if not done properly.
