I am attempting to scan

How is your printer connected to your computer, wireless or hardwired with a USB cable? If wireless, check the status of the WiFi light on the printer (green = connected to a network, orange = not connected to a network). Try to turn off/on your printer. Doing this usually fixes minor communication issues. This article in the Lexmark website might also help resolve your scan problem: No Communications Error When Trying to Print or Scan.

After the power went out

A quick fix for most communication errors can be achieved by resetting the printer and/or rebooting the PC. Frequently, issues are caused simply by a break in the signal sent from PC to printer or vice versa. Unplugging and re-plugging the printer allows the small amount of on-board memory on the printer to be cleared, with the result that the PC recognizes the machine properly. Programs continuing to run in the background of the operating system (OS) can cause the signal to be lost. Rebooting the PC ends all programs that may be running and makes a 'clean' start, allowing the signal to be detected.
If connection is still not established, try to print the network settings page to determine if your printer is still registered in your wireless network. 1. Press Setup (pattlnk_632008_2048-x4650stup.jpg) on the printer operator panel. 2. Press the right or left arrow button until Network Setup is displayed, and then press(pattlnk_632008_2052-x4650ok.jpg). 3. Press pattlnk_632008_2052-x4650ok.jpg at Print Setup Page. 4. Press pattlnk_632008_2052-x4650ok.jpg when prompted to Load Paper. 5. Press pattlnk_632008_2052-x4650ok.jpg. The network settings page will now print.
Check the SSID and the IP address on the settings page. If info shows that your printer is no longer registered, you may need to reset the wireless network settings of the printer.
Follow steps 1 & 2 above, 3. Press the right or left arrow button until Reset Network Adapter Defaults is displayed, and then press pattlnk_632008_2052-x4650ok.jpg. 4. Press the right or left arrow button to display Yes, and then press pattlnk_632008_2052-x4650ok.jpg. 5. Observe the message"Clearing Wireless Settings". The WiFi light will momentarily turn off then lights up solid orange. You can now launch Wireless Configuration Utility or Wireless Setup Assistant (Macintosh) to reconfigure your printer to connect to your network.

Printer is not working

Have you tried changing the usb cable? I know you said you have checked that it isn't broken but sometimes the cables go wrong without obvious signs. I'm always working with printers and I have had similar problems with a lexmark printers, normally the first thing I try is a new cable, that usually works a treat.
I would try a new usb cable.
Good luck

My printer keeps missing some

What is the operating system of your computer? Does this happen to all print jobs you send to the printer? Does this happen to all applications you're using on your computer? This could be driver issue. Try to use the updated Lexmark X4650 driver from the Lexmark website at http://bit.ly/iofMNC.

Unable to connect wireless to

This could be a firewall issue. Make sure to allow full access to all Lexmark softwares and printer communication processes in the program rules/permissions for your firewall.

Place your printer where it receives excellent wireless signal quality and away from other electronic devices which can cause wireless interferences (e.g. cordless phones, microwave ovens, baby monitors, garage door openers, and other wireless electronics).

The correct colour print cartridge

This can happen for the reasons that it may be a counterfeit one, or the contacts on it or the printer are dirty damaged or in some way not working?

Try cleaning contacts on both cartridge and printer contacts, obtain a genuine cartridge... sometimes just the act of doing this, changing cartridges, damages the circuitry internally, it must get zapped or the like?

try removing from power and USB & resetting the printer too, this may help

Have refilled ink but it

Hi,
Often the software is written for several models.
First, you should clear your print que by deleting all pending print jobs as this can scramble it's brain.
Do that in "printers and faxes" in the control panel.
Remove cartridge and check there are not little bits of plastic or fiber lodged between the cartridge and the printer.
Power off the printer and your pc
power on printer
then pc
see if the error remains
if it persists see if you can run the troubleshooter and clean the printheads
if it does this test your printer now

I hope this is ofsome help.

When I attempt to print

schoolcounse,

This sounds like corrupt software and you need to reinstall it. Rather than reinstall the software from the CD which came with the unit I would recommend getting the most up to date version at the manufacturers website and downloading and installing it. I have a tip at http://www.fixya.com/support/r6370947-install_printer_without_install_cd which will walk you through the process.

Thanks for using FixYa and for the great rating.
