quick fix for most communication errors can be achieved by resetting the
printer and/or rebooting the PC. Frequently, issues are caused simply by a
break in the signal sent from PC to printer or vice versa. Unplugging and
re-plugging the printer allows the small amount of on-board memory on the
printer to be cleared, with the result that the PC recognizes the machine properly.
Programs continuing to run in the background of the operating system (OS) can
cause the signal to be lost. Rebooting the PC ends all programs that may be
running and makes a 'clean' start, allowing the signal to be detected.
This can happen for the reasons that it may be a counterfeit one, or the contacts on it or the printer are dirty damaged or in some way not working?
Try cleaning contacts on both cartridge and printer contacts, obtain a genuine cartridge... sometimes just the act of doing this, changing cartridges, damages the circuitry internally, it must get zapped or the like?
try removing from power and USB & resetting the printer too, this may help

I know it's a little obvious, but have you checked that the printer is turned on? If you cannot see a green light, there should be a power button on the display in the bottom left. It could also be that it is not plugged into the wall, or the plug is turned off.
If it is turned on, check it is connected to your computer:
if you are connecting physically or "with wires", check the wires are connected to the computer, or to the network, if that is how you're using it. (If you don't know, you are connecting directly to the computer.)
if you are connecting using the wireless, check that the wireless indicator is green. If it is blinking green, it is updating; orange and it is waiting to be set up; blinking orange and either the wireless router is not close enough to the printer or it has been turned off.
If the wireless indicator is green, but not printing, try reinstalling the program that came with your printer.
If it is orange or off, go to the Lexmark wireless setup utility in your computer. (It should be in the start menu in lexmark>tools.) This facility will require you to connect the computer via cable.
If all these don't work, please see your lexmark vendor to examine your printer as it may be broken.
