Bose SoundDock® (Black) Docking Station for Apple iPod Questions & Answers
My Bose SoundDock got slightly wet underneath; it
depending on how deep, the docking connector board is probably faulty. If wet they work for a while and then the electricity and liquid eats away the conductors - then you need a replacement board from
www.invebo.com . You can also buythe charge upgrade to get you Original dock to charge the
Iphone.
Where do I get my SoundDock fixed?
It could also be that the volume button has gotten stuck, misaligned and it needs to be seated back into the the right spot. If you feel comfortable in removing the bottom of the Dock connector held on by three screws, you could look and see if the volume button is stuck or maybe a little crooked. I don't believe that this is caused by a bad circuit board. If you have experienced any problems with the docking of iDevice, I would check out www.invebo.com and make sure to type in the www. For some reason it will not navigate to the website if omitted. They are an awesome company for Bose SoundDock DIY repairs or have them repair it for you. Check out the Bluetooth upgrade, if you have an iPod Touch or any device with Bluetooth, you don't have to dock the device anymore. So you have more control of what you're listening to. Anyway, I bet it's just the volume up button that is stuck, or something is stuck in the volume up bottom on the right side of dock connector. If that is not the case then INVEBO is the least expensive repair route, under 50 bucks., Bose will do an upgrade, switch out program, running you a total of around $164.00. You send them your unit, they send you a box for the return, then they send out a new unit.
Bose Sound Dock remote control - only volume works
My remote worked perfectly until I changed the battery. The original battery was CL 2032 and I replaced it with DL 2032. After replacing the battery, only the volume control works. The off button will only fade the sound while the button is depressed. Release the button, and the volume returns to the original level and the unit remains On.
None of the other buttons work.

My bose docking station is making a loud knocking sound when I put the ipod in it.
You have it plugged in, incorrectly! You need to look and find the symbol that is on the plug end and match it with the symbol on the back of sound dock. As time goes by the plug can get a little worn down allowing it to be plugged in, in any orientation, thus causing the knocking sound that you hear, that should fix the problem, enjoy!
Dock is not recognizing the Ipod
1) Back everything up on your iTouch.2) Restore, using i tunes (connected to the computer. Not just 're-store' to factory settings under Touch settings).3) Put everything back on to your iTouch.Worked for me, if not for you- check that the faults not with your dock.
My Bose radio got rained
Usually when units get rained on it is advised that said units be left to dry up properly over a given period of time usually a week or longer. This is usually done in a bid to limit damages which the unit will suffer as a result of water in its components. If the unit still has water inside it and it is powered on the water tends to short circuit some of the units functions and therefore cause untold damage to the unit.
Presently since your unit still comes on then the main transformer has not burnt out but some of the other connections and functions on the unit have been burnt out. Most likely the sound IC this is the component which controls sound production in the unit. Although other components might have been affected but unless examined properly i cannot be precise.
Best get an expert from the Bose service center to help examine the unit and replace the sound IC and also check for other possible problems as well as get the interior properly dried.
