Hello, i suggest doing the full restore and not the quick one, this usually takes about 10 hrs or so.If it still is showing corrupt then you will want to replace the hard drive which is located on the side of the unit, however you will want to have a usb thumbdrive with all of the ps3 update info downloaded which is available for free at playstation support .com.

When i want to turn

It sounds like its Yellow Light Of Death its caused frome overheating and there is a break in the solider between the CPU and GPU. The fix is actually easy, but the instructions are a bit long I will post an answer from start to begining there might be quite a few.

Its called the yellow light of death. The fix is really simple, but the taking the console can be complex. So if you are up to the challenge hear it is.

Things that you will need: Heat gun, non-corrosive liquid flux (Found at stores like Fry's and anyplace that sells PC boards, also sold online at www.amozon.com), 1 tube of Thermal compound, 1 bottle of rubbing alcohol, 2 different sizes jewelers screwdrivers 1 small and 1 medium, Torks 9 screwdriver(Not necessary but helpful to get the 1st outer top panel off), Phillips No. 2, Phillips No. 1, and a tiny Phillips the size you would use for eyeglasses.

NOTE: Only the 80g consoles with the multi-port SD card reader on the front. These models will have the Blue-Ray ribbon cable accessible without having to pull power supply 1st. You will also have to pull the card reader and Wi-Fi/USB board from the front in order to remove the power supply, the only tricky thing on the card reader board is the ribbon cable connected under the PC board that connects to the motherboard it needs to be disconnected before the card reader board is removed. Also on these models for the removal of the motherboard you will have to remove the ribbon cable, PC board, and mounting bracket from the on/off sensor on the front right part of the casing. Once you have the motherboard and heat-sink out turn the unit over and on the HDD cage there are 2 small screws that have to be removed before you can separate the 2 of them. Looking at the back where all the cables hook-up, the plastic backing needs to separated from the motherboard. Turn the motherboard over and you will see on the plastic backing has little clips that you can unsecure by hand so it can be removed.

1. Disconnect all cords, cable, etc.......

2. Pull your HDD.

3. Pull the 2 outer top covers off.

4. After the 2 outer top covers are off, unplug the Blue-Ray player from the motherboard its front side on the left side of the deck. Lift the player slowly there is 1 ribbon cable on the bottom of it. Depending on your what model of machine yours, it will unplug from the motherboard either left side towards the back under the player or directly underneath the component to the left of the player. To disconnect the cable (using your finger nail) put the edge of your nail under the plastic locking clamp and slowly pry up and then slide cable opposite of locking clamp.

5. Remove the Wi-Fi board from off the front of the console in addition to that there is a black wire that runs from the Wi-Fi board to the back of the machine that you will need to unscrew.

6. Remove all screws that are holding the power supply down. There is also a yellow and green wire at the back that you will have to unscrew, next remove the plug from the back of the power supply, finally place the tips of your fingers under both underneath sides of the power supply and pry gently until the component unplugs from the motherboard.

7. Remove all screws around the outer edge of metal cover of motherboard.

Ps3 will do everything but play ps3 games how do i

Your issue will most likely be caused by a fault laser diode, replacing the entire bluray drive, or just the laser itself will 99% of the time fix this problem. The other 1% of the time the hard drive just needs to be formatted.

When i turn my ps3

Hi there, what you are describing is called the Yellow Light Of Death (YLOD). When the PS3 was originally made Sony used lead free solder in their consoles. Lead free solder is not as flexible as normal leaded solder and over time due to expansion and contraction because of heat given off by the console's components hairline cracks formed in the solder joints between the CPU and GPU and lots of PS3's failed. You have got a couple of options, you can either have the console professionally repaired which is going to cost around £50. If the console is out of warranty Sony will only replace it for a cost of around £130. As a last resort if you are good with electrical items you might want to have a go at repairing it yourself. If you google YLOD you will find plenty of guides that will instruct you on how you can repair it yourself.

Please bear in mind that once a console has the YLOD there is NO guarantee as to how long a repair will last, it could be a couple of hours to a couple of years

Hope this helps

Not recieveing signal from 40g

The problem is either coming from your console or from the cables.
It is most likely to be coming from the console since it is not working with either cable. The best thing to do to confirm what may be wrong is for you to test other cables which you know is working on the console and if it does work, then you can be sure that your console is broken.
On the other hand, this is quite a common problem with the PS3 console. It is known as the black screen of death.
The only sure way to fix this problem is to send it to a repairer and explain your problem to him,
Although, when you go through some websites online, you may find different information on how to go about this.
However, most of this procedures are not secure and may end up damaging your console the more.
Hope this was helpful? Please comment for more information.

My ps3 light blinks red

Does the lights blink red? If so, you have the infamous YLOD, aka. Yellow Light of

Death. This is the number 1 cause of pS3's dying. It is an overheating issue

linked to your CPU and GPU (the processor chips) You will need to find a local PS3

repair shop who can repair this. Do not try to attempt repairs seen on the internet yourself. You could make things much worse and render the unit totally unresponsive.

The repair process takes about 3 hours.

The light is blinking red and it wouldnt turn on.

Hi there,

Despite the other colors you are getting, the fact that is flashed yellow indicates the yellow light of death. A critical piece of hardware inside your PS3 has failed and it needs to be serviced. I would suggest calling SCEA at 1-800-345-7669.

How to fix the yellow light

1)Turn off your playstation 3. If you think your ps3 has been caught by the heat, then wait at least 20 minutes and put it back on again
2) Check if there's any loose cable.
3) Try to put out your playstation's hard-drive, and put it back in. You might want to repeat this 2-3 times for better results.
If this did not work, then there are 2 options left for you on how to fix your ps3 safe and fast.
Send your playstation 3 back to Sony
but take a look at some statistics. Most users had to wait 2 weeks before they had their Console back. And also, if your warranty is expired, you have to pay a big fat $150,- to get the job done

Discs don't show up

When you say the disc does not show up, do you mean it won't read? Or do you mean when you put in a disc nothing at all happens? If the disc won't read it's a fairly simple problem and you just need the lense cleaned. You can go buy a disc cleaner and run it through a few times and that should do the trick! If it won't read at all, maybe the disc isn't compatible with your system and if that's not the case, well then you might want to take it to the shop and have it looked at. If it's not reading at all it's probably an internal problem and the eye isn't seeing the disc.
