Apple OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion error 1008:9-5000

Hello,You should already have read/write access to your own Application Support folder. If you are referring to the /Library/Application Support folder, repairing permissions should set the proper permissions on the folder, but probably not the contents (you really shouldn't change permissions on system files and folders). Trying to move or change permissions on the contents of an entire folder may also fail if there are items in there that you don't have access for, such as those owned by another user (check the permissions of the specific folder that you are trying to copy to).

What is the process to display my computer screen running Apple's Mountain Lion on my big screen TV?

This is something called Air Play. To set this up you need to follow these steps:
  • Already have or buy an Apple TV version 2 or later.
  • Have an iMac from mid 2011 or later, a Mac mini for mid 2011 or later, a Macbook Air from mid 2011 or later, or a Macbook Pro from early 2011 or later.
  • Have a Wi-Fi or ethernet internet connection.
Now you have to go through the set up to get the devices to "talk" to each other. You do that by using these steps:
  • Turn on your Apple TV and your computer
  • Go to System Preferences and click on "Airplay Mirroring"
After this you can play around and see which resolution size you want your TV to have compared to your computer. It completely depends on your TV and computer, but I usually set it up to match up with my Apple TV since I watch stuff from my computer on my television (it sounds like you will do this too).

What are the common problems with Apple OSX Mountain Lion?

Hello Patrick,The most common problems I've experienced with Mountain Lion are the following:
  • Reduced battery life. I've noticed about an hour to an hour and a half cut off from my battery life of my Macbook Pro. I'm not sure if this applies to you since you have a Macbook Air, but my recommendation is to try a reinstall if you experience battery problems and turn off some of the extra features like Twitter integration and iCloud when you're not using them.
  • Safari is crashing. Safari is a browser that used to have little respect but now has actually gotten pretty decent. However, with Mountain Lion it actually crashes a lot more than usual. I don't have a fix for it offhand, but I would recommend just using Chrome (which I use anyways) or Firefox. And stay away from Explorer!
  • Free upgrades to Mountain Lion. When I got my free upgrade to Mountain Lion (if you purchased a Mac after June 11, 2012 you can get one too) it took Apple about 5 days to upgrade me to Mountain Lion. This is a super low priority problem, but it's still something I hope they're working on.
  • Notes synchronization. I have answered this on FixYa already, you can find it on the site.
Best of luck.

What are the requirements to download Apple Mountain Lion OSX?

You must have the following computer to download Mountain Lion:iMac (Mid 2007 or newer)MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer)MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer)MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer)Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer)Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer)Xserve (Early 2009)Once that is done, you must be updated to the most recent version of either Snow Leopard or Lion. If you don't have either of these operating systems (which is highly unlikely considering the other computers should have them, but I digress) then you will need to get them before Mountain Lion. After that, go to the Apple Store and download Mountain Lion!

Is there any free updates for my mac 10.5

Apple stopped supporting OS X 10.5. Upgrades are only $20 to 10.7. If your Mac has 10.5, Lion, 10.7, is probably as high as you can upgrade. I would check either eBay or Amazon, as I've seen Lion disk sets selling for less than $5, then $4.95 shipping (or less on eBay). All the best to you, Kerry Hostetter
