Reset bios password
in desktop computer this can be done by shorting cmos reset dip switch or removing cmos battery momentarily for a couple of seconds or minute at least. If you are working on a
laptop computer the location of the dip switch (almost never a jumper) can be under the keyboard or on the bottom of the laptop in a compartment such as the memory compartment.
Slow computer shutdown
before shut down close 1 by 1 all opened programs, then refresh 2-3 time on desktop... or... format your c: drive and re install windows...
My cd rom drive does not recognize media
First check CD (bad, scratch) Change it... if not OK thenthen Check Software (like media player, VLC player) re-install it if not OK then...Then check Cable of cd rom (loos connection) in not OK thenbring any friend's or neighbor's CD ROM for few minutes and replace... if other CDROM working ok then problem in your CD ROMopen cd rom and Check Lance (head) of CD rom... mostly lance not working in these cases.
Quick heal
Ok this is one of my two options since I cannot install the software to give a exact no fail answer for ya:
1) Open My Computer
2) Go to Program Files
3) Look for something called Quick Heal
4) Open that folder and then look for one of the following files:
[Note: * 's are Widcards: Meaning anything after or in place of that is fine.]
unins*.exe, uninst.exe or anything called Uninstall or like it.
If you see one run it as it will most likely work and remove it for you.
Also in some rare cases there is a Setup.exe that has the capability of removing the software as well.
My second option would be to if you can find the Quick Heal folder is to click the folder once to highlight it, Hold Shift and press Delete to permenantly delete it and then go about something that works but I warn you if you do any mistakes can cause issues:
1) Go to Start > Run
2) Then type cmd and hit enter.
3) Once you see the run Dialog type: msconfig
4) Press Enter
5) Go to the services tab and uncheck any box that in the manufacturer says Quick Heal in any means or is in the Startup Item Part.
6) Go to the Services tab and before you do anything check the "Hide all Microsoft services"
7) Look under Service and Manufacturer for things labeled Quick Heal and uncheck them
8) Click Apply and then Ok and then then the reboot option.
This process should manually remove Quick Heal but I suggest you only do this for this program.
I sincerely hope this helps.
I have a Dell Inspiron 8600 which is running windows xp pro. I have 2 Gigs of memory, the computer runs ok, but I'm receiving info from scans that my HDD Pata is about to go,I'd like to change
Well, you will want to open up the side of your computer and see if there are SATA ports on the motherboard. They look like this:
Though they may not be blue.If there are SATA ports on your board, you are in good shape. Just buy any SATA hard drive (SATA2 and SATA3 are backwards compatible) and connect it with the SATA connector and a SATA power connector from the power supply. Don't be afraid, these can only plug in one way without forcing them and only SATA plugs will fit. After that, there are a variety of drive cloning programs you can use to clone your current hard drive onto another so that you don't lose anything. If you don't have SATA plugs on your motherboard, it is easily remedied. You can buy a PCI SATA card for quite a reasonable price like this one:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16816124024You will also probably need a small adapter like this:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812189121To convert a molex plug into a SATA power plug. After you plug in the card and the new hard drive, run the driver CD for the SATA add-in card and then run a cloning program.
