How can I compute quadratic
You cannot solve the quadratic equation with this calculator. It does not have a solve program.
However if you wnat to create a table of values for a function (any type of function that uses the basic scientific function keys ) you use the TABLE Computational Mode.
You press MODE
You select TABLE
You enter a mathematical expression 3X^2-.33X+ 15
You generate the table of values.
I need to know how
The "problem" is not how to calculate with numbers expressed in Scientific Notation but how to enter a number given to you in scientific notation. Once the number is entered you do not have to do anything special. If you have to multiply it use the (x) button. to add it use the + button, etc.
How to enter a number in scientific notation.
Type in the mantissa (example 6.022)
Press the [X10^x] at the bottom of keypad.
Enter the exponent (example 23)
with this example you will have entered Avogadro's number 6.022x10^23
Other example
1.6 [X10^x] (-) 19 enters the electron charge in Coulombs. The exponent is negative that is why you press the change sign key (-).
How do you use the
You have a DMS key (° ' ") . You use it to enter and angle values expressed in DMS. Enter the degree part of the angle then press the key
(° ' "), enter the minutes part of angle, and press the key (° ' "), and finally enter the seconds part.
How do I type an equal sign into the calculator?
Look at the top left corner of the keypad. If you have a = sign marked on the f ace of the calculator (near a CALc or Solve key) you can enter the = by pressing [ALPHA] then the key next to which there is an = sign.
If you do not have that second = sign, you cannot enter it.
The FX-115ES and the FX-991ES do have that sign to allow the user to enter equations. In your calculator you only have three calculational modes: the general COMP mode, the STAT mode and the Table Mode. No equation mode. Sorry.
I have an Casio fx-300ES,
All you need to know is how to enter a number in scientific notation. As to the operations you do them the usual way: For example, to multiply you enter a number (in any notation) press the multiplication key then enter the second number (in any notation) and press the = sign to get the result.
The problem is that the result may not be in scientific notation format. But for that you can configure the calculator to always show results in scientific format. Here is how to force that. Press [SHIFT][MODE] to enter (SetUp). In the screen that displays enter the number for the option SCI. You will then be prompted to specify the number of decimal digits. You will enter a number between 0 and 9. If you select 0 you will not have decimals in the result, and if you enter 9 you will have 9 decimals. What is the appropriate number of decimal place to keep in the FINAL result will depend on the number of significant digits in the measuremnets.
To enter a number in scientific notation (ex: 6.25x10^(-4))
You enter the so-called mantissa 6.25
You press the key at the bottom of keypad that is marked as [X10^x]
You enter the change sign (-) followed by the exponent 4
If your calculator is in MathIO you will be able to verify that what was entered is exactly what was neant. In MathIO, you move cursor up or down using the Up or Down arrow. When you finish entering the exponent you use the right arrow to bring cursor to the main level.
Please ca you show me
If you have the so-called xRoot key you procede as follows; 10[xRoot] 1.797
If you do not have an xRoot key you use the equivalence nth root of x= x to the power of 1/n
In the case of the 10th root you type (1.797)^(1/10) or (1.797)^(0.1). Here the [^] caret is the general power key. On some calculators it is marked as [X^y] or [Y^x]
Is there a formula for standard deviation problems
Hello,
Of course there are formulas for those calculations. You find them in books on statistics. Do not worry, the calculator has been programmed to use them. All you have to do is learn how to get the calculator to give you the results.
If you still want to see the formulas with your very eyes, I suggest you go to the local library, ask a math teacher, an accountant, or launch a Google search for them.
Hope it helps.

To change a displayed result into a fraction, press the [S=D] key. To force a result to be displayed as a decimal number before it is displayed, press [SHIF][=] instead of [=].
How do you get back from scientific mode to just
You do a U-Turn, meaning the opposite. Press [SHIFT][MODE] to open the (setUp). In the setup screen choose FIX or NORMal. You might be prompted to enter the number of decimal digits. In that case enter a number between 0 and 9.
Where's the SIC button located on the
Sorry. I am a loss about what that SCI means. However if you are asking about SCIentific display mode you can access it by pressing [SHIFT][MODE]. It will be listed as SCI. Press the number to its left. You will then be prompted to enter an integer number between 0 and 9 to specify the number of decimals digits. To enter nummbers in scientific notation, enter the decimal part (mantissa) then use the key marked x10^x followed by the exponent.
I can't get out of
If as you say you are in EQUAtion mode, thequestion marks are prompts for you to enter the coefficients. Try answering by pressing 0 each time. You might not find a solutions but it will interrupt the search. Press the AC button. If that does not interrupt the process, press [MODE] followed by [1:COMP] to set the general COMPutational mode.Reset the whole calculator by the sequence [SHIFT][9] (CLR) to claer all configurations changes and reset the calculator.

If you mean "1-over-x" then it's the key marked "x-superscript-negative-one" just right and below the big round cursor pad. If you mean "reciprocal sign" more commonly referred to as "negative" or "change-sign" then it's the key marked "(-)" two keys above the "7" key.
How do you convert from
If the operation is possible you can perform it by pressing the [S«»D] key. In general, pressing that key will toggle between exact (fraction or radical) to approximate (decimals). You can always go from exact to approximate but the reverse is not always possible: Sometimes it works and other times it does not.

The calculator has a key marked with two squares on top of one another and with a fraction bar between them. The key is to the left, below the ABS key..The shifted function of that key is the mixed fraction [a b/c]. I am not convinced you need a specific key to enter a mixed fraction: you can just type in the integer part (whole part) then + then use the fraction key (the one with the two squares.)
I am working on algebra
You can set the number display mode to be SCI. Press [SHIF][MODE] and look for the number to the right of which is written SCI. Enter that number. You may be asked to specify the number of digits after the decimal mark 0 tilda 9. Select an appropriate number and enter the corresponding key.If you want to ENTER numbers in scientific format, enter them the usual way. When you arrive to the power of 10 press the [x 10^X] key, followed by the exponent. Use the change sign key (-) to enter a negative exponent.

With this calculator, you cannot do (solve?) equations. It has a general computational mode (COMP), a table mode (TABLE) and a statistical mode (STAT). You can find these by pressing the MODE key.
