Sounds like the power supply is going out. Could have been shorted when there was a power surge. You using a power conditioner or surge protector???

Could be be due to overheating as well. Try to clean the outside casing and the inside using a can or compressed air. I don't think it is overheating but you never know and many home electronics turn have to avoid being damaged once they get hot enough.

Hi, the part number for the ps assembly is E7801-061001 , they show availability at the partstore.com
you might want to verify the number by taking the actual number off the power supply assembly directly.

To answer your question;
No you do not need a converter as your tv has an ATSC/NTSC tuner.
In other words your tv is digital ready.
What you need to verify after you`ve checked your antenna`s connection is go into the tuner or channel menu and make sure that the tuner is set to digital(atsc) before you do the auto scan or auto program.

when its in channel mode, meaning no signal come in; for that check signal connection for your cable provider going your tv station.

Akai model LCT2715 will not pick up any chanels

This is a sign that your tv needs service.Normally it means the lamp is blown.These are expensive but easy to replace.My lamp only has 5000 hours use out the box.I had to replace it once so far.I would check your manual if you have it available.

Sounds like a bad inverter PCB. Some times inverters can be replaced other times you have to replace the LCD panel. Depends on your local shops. Thanks for using fixya.

I checked it at encompass where I get most of my parts because they 1) have them 2) quick turnaround and most important 3) cheapest. Your tech was telling the truth. That would be the correct price for the board. Let me know if you need more help.
