I accidentally reformatted by digital
Yes-- DO NOT take any additional photos with this card or write any additional information to the card at all, or you will permanently overwrite the photos. Lock the card by sliding the "lock" tab on the side of the SD card.
You can use an "undelete" utility to recover the photos. Some camera shops or computer shops may be able to provide this service to you.
(Reformatting the card will make the card appear to have 0 photos stored, but it will not actually erase the information completely, so this specialized software can often times recover your images.)
Good luck!
Unidentified images
You think you can try photo recovery software to see if you can rescue the lost photos or movies, here are some you may rely on. Both programs can also recover videos and music.
Photo Recovery Software (for Windows)
Mac Photo Recovery Software (for Mac OS X)
Be careful: Before your pictures and videos are recovered, do not attempt to save more files to the memory card in case the original files(your pictures) are overwritten.
Date stamp
To get the date/time to be on your photos while taking the picture so you don't have to use the software later do this:
When in the mode to take pictures, press the round "Function Set" button and change the recording pixels to "Postcard 1600 X 1200". "Postcard" is the only setting that will allow the time/date stamp to be recorded on the picture.
Then press the "Menu" button and scroll down to "Date Stamp". You can select "Date", "Date & Time" or "Off". You can only do this when your pictures are set to the "Postcard" mode.
Video Playback in fast mode (canon ixus 80)
Oh my, sounds like you accidentally recorded in "Time Lapse" mode (one of the specialized video features of your camera). Unfortunately, there's no way to convert the already taken video back to "Standard" video with sound, I'm sorry. However, you'll obviously need to set your camera back to standard mode for future videos. Press the "Function" button while in video mode. Then press left/right to select "Standard" video.

My ixus reads "communication error" when i i plug ...
Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer. The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as
Picasa.
How to turn off flash
Press cursor-right (marked with a lightning bolt), then select the lightning bolt in a circle with a slash through it.
I recorded movie accidently in time lapse mode
Sorry, it can't be done. The time-lapse mode records fewer images than normal video. Imagine taking one picture every hour out your window. From this collection of pictures you can't see anything that went on between the pictures. It's the same thing here.
